The Senate might go along. Who knows?
― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Thursday, 5 October 2023 18:56 (two years ago)
I don't think the Senate has a say
― a (waterface), Thursday, 5 October 2023 19:48 (two years ago)
Not with the election for speaker, but with the fantasy double impeachment Pres. K. speaks of.
― The Royal House of Hangover (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 5 October 2023 19:55 (two years ago)
ah gotcha.
I'd say this isn't going to happen but I didn't expect people to storm the Capitol either. The problem is, if they do elect him he's not gonna do shit and then when they try and kick him out he's not gonna leave
― a (waterface), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:04 (two years ago)
How can you kick out the greatest Speaker of all time?
― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:05 (two years ago)
I could see him having a talent for whipping votes through sheer intimidation, but he'd have to show up and do all the other stuff for that to happen
― Muad'Doob (Moodles), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:07 (two years ago)
One week as speaker would be more hours of labor than the rest of his life combined.
― papal hotwife (milo z), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:09 (two years ago)
he'd just stay at Mar-a-Lago, hand over the real work to the Freedom Caucus. he could find plenty of willing dogsbodies to wield the gavel on a day-to-day basis. and, yes, once in he'd never permit a vote to kick him out.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:17 (two years ago)
Trump lawyers trying to get the Jan 6th indictment tossed since the coup attempt was part of 'official duties':
“Here, 234 years of unbroken historical practice — from 1789 until 2023 — provide compelling evidence that the power to indict a former president for his official acts does not exist,” they wrote.
The fucking GALL of '234 years of unbroken practice' when he was the first dickwad in those centuries to try and block the peaceful transition, JFC

― Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:42 (two years ago)
Even as they wrote that they knew it was nonsense and that no court is going to accept that argument. The question of whether there was any legitimacy to Trump's claims of election fraud has already been litigated and disposed of when he lost more than 60 court cases attempting to establish those claims and did not win once. That puts his efforts on January 6 far outside of any official duties and places his actions squarely in the realm of abrogating his oath of office.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:01 (two years ago)
Right, "Trump's official acts" is both A: desperate and B: all they've got.
― Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable POST (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:24 (two years ago)
My Pillow dude deserves no sympathy, but this exhausted, dejected clip of him is, in every sense of the word, actually, to coin a phrase, sad:
Lindell is broke, basically. He did it to himself pic.twitter.com/ZcPUKCpxcS— Bradley P. Moss (@BradMossEsq) October 5, 2023
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:31 (two years ago)
then why don't I feel sad?
also, the fact that his lawyers took his case looks to me like prima facie evidence that their primary interest was billable hours. they should have been urging him to settle from the first day and every day after and when he consistently refused that advice, they should have resigned, not waiting until he ran out of money.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:42 (two years ago)
Wow I know that dude (Brad Moss, I mean, not Pillow Guy)
― The Royal House of Hangover (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:44 (two years ago)
Yeah, I mean, I'm not sad, it's just rare that you see any of these losers minus the overconfident swagger.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:54 (two years ago)
I remain astonished at Trump's ability to get people to immolate themselves for him.
― immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 5 October 2023 21:55 (two years ago)
I've seen the argument that a bunch of hollow people wanting their lives to be exciting basically attached themselves to him for just that and well, there ya go, it's exciting.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 5 October 2023 22:12 (two years ago)
Sure, you think you're part of something until you realize you're just a smoldering husk on the side of a very long road.
― immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 5 October 2023 22:14 (two years ago)
Lindell also blew a bunch of his own cash make weird documentaries and live presentations about the 'big steal' mythos, so it's hard to be too sympathetic to his current plight

What happened to the overstock.com guy? He went over the edge too didn't he? I suppose Rudy has fallen as far as anyone could possibly fall, but he was always a sleaze bag, just shifted to full wacky dgaf mode, to no apparent gain.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 5 October 2023 23:08 (two years ago)
he's not part of that company anymore, I don't know... I think they bought BB&B and are rebranding that way, they don't just do overstocky stuff anymore
