here's an idea so crazy it just might work! instead of ones and zeroes, how about using musical notation? not perfect, I know, but it would be a big savings in animal skins!

eh, to interpret the binary code of an MP3 would require knowing either the algorithm that produced it or else the piece of music that was encoded, just as decoding Egyptian hieroglyphics required a Rosetta Stone with the same text in other, known languages. musical notation is a much cruder system of encoding to crack. mainly it would require guessing that it recorded musical notes and figuring out the notes were in the octave scale.

Yeah, you can "read" binary easily enough but given it can be used to be encoding ANYT SORT OF INFORMATION AT ALL in ANY SORT OF ARBITRARY WAY you're not going to just interpret it easily at all. Whereas musical notation gives you some pretty obvious clues to start with (physically higher notes being higher, etc)

in college i did a film course where i shot on tri-x film, transferred to beta, edited on a computer (OS 8 iirc), then output to VHS for playback

i think that hes tanking twitter in that he has an ideological project thats not aligned with making good business decisions, and then also his pure business decisions are very bad too, but i dont think hes thinking "haha im destroying twitter" i think hes thinking "im creating the twitter i want and obviously everyone else will like it too because im the best guy in the world"

Seems almost certain that Musk tweets this shit out on a whim and then whoever's left at Twitter has to try & find a way to make it work.

He has some thing now about wanting to make people click into the tweets--like he's going to hide the likes and comments numbers inside--I guess because if you do then you're more likely to read the comments and get mad and reply and etc.

does anyone really care how many likes some tweet got, feel like it works the other way around if you see a tweet has a ton of interactions then maybe you look at the comments
