they’re not really “jokes” though, they’re just like annoying witticisms or something

brimstead, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:58 (two years ago)

they’re like bill Maher “jokes”

brimstead, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:59 (two years ago)

Ben Shapiro "jokes"

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 17:03 (two years ago)

Trump being large isn't funny, but Trump claiming to be 215 lbs is pretty funny

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:04 (two years ago)

look I agree the fat jokes are probably in bad taste but this dude did list himself at 215, I mean come on if you could make an exception for anyone

"He has some repellent traits, which it's important that you understand I share"

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:55 (two years ago)

I guess as long as Republicans promise not to tell any jokes about President Pritzker...

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:58 (two years ago)

Trump's posture is his funniest physical characteristic. Constantly leaning into the headwinds of life

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:58 (two years ago)

Plus the hair, the tan, the hands, the ties. You could write a dissertation on the way he presents himself to the world and weight wouldn't even be a footnote.

henry s, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 19:08 (two years ago)

right but it's all made a lot funnier by the fact that he's a giant lunk

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 19:25 (two years ago)

Dude has attacked many people by how they look etc, that kinda makes him fair game.

Bullies really only understand a punch in the nose.

earlnash, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:26 (two years ago)

Trump was not a bad looking guy in his younger days, and he would be a perfectly adequate looking old dude if he hadn't devoted so much energy to becoming a burnt sienna grotesquerie with unkempt candy floss hair and a suppurating asshole for a mouth. If you wanna criticize his physicality, it's super easy to train all of your focus on the shit he actively does to make himself monstrous as part of his personal brand without ever even touching on stuff like his weight.

Prop Dramedy (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:29 (two years ago)

^^^^ he's a self-created monster

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:30 (two years ago)

the 1 billion dollar bill should have his face on it - he'd never get to see it though

StanM, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:30 (two years ago)

It's the look of winky smarm mixed with unflattering vitriol, profuse sweat, ill fitting clothing and desperate insecurity

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:31 (two years ago)

xxxxp
he's definitely not reading this though, is he? whereas there are people reading this that find that kind of speak hurtful.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:32 (two years ago)

this is the kind of thing that REALLY hurts him, where the sun don't shine

Donald Trump drops off Forbes 400 list of wealthiest people in the US

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:36 (two years ago)

Are we really making fun of poor people now?

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:39 (two years ago)

Did anyone itt call Trump gay? I'd like to know sooner than later

peanut filibuster parfait (Eric H.), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:43 (two years ago)

I think 'camp' has come up a few times, but that's different

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:50 (two years ago)

We've talked about him being mentally ill, addicted to substances, old. We've shamed his parenting.

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:00 (two years ago)

reggie (qualmsley), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:10 (two years ago)

I did say that he should die choking on Putin's cock. Nobody seemed to mind though, I'm assuming because it was more about his exile & death than it was about homoeroticism.

BrianB, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:14 (two years ago)

shittest Brian B ever

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:16 (two years ago)

We've shamed his parenting.

― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, October 4, 2023 4:00 PM (seventeen minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

What parenting? The only love he's shown for his children has been of the very unwholesome and inappropriate variety.

Prop Dramedy (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:20 (two years ago)

BrianB kudos to you for like deliberately not reading what the actual criticism was like three times now.

anyways calzino is otm with this

real warm grandpa (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:41 (two years ago)

It's not really any different from telling a 'fat joke' and having a friend with obesity walk by and be hurt and you saying "oh I wasn't talking about YOU".

the 'being fat' is the joke and is, as such, punching down. making fun of Trump for lying about his weight seems to be more mocking him for lying about everything, even unimportant things, than the actual being fat. possibly borderline but at least I understand that better than 'hur hur when Trump sits around the house..." jokes.

(not saying I haven't ever been guilty of it either, but trying to be more mindful)

real warm grandpa (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 21:47 (two years ago)

xpost Look, everyone has their own love language

Also now you’re kink shaming

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:15 (two years ago)

Have been off IlX for a while for self-preservation reasons and popped in today to see how everyone’s doing. I’ll see myself out till next year.

Yelploaf, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:31 (two years ago)

Aw, it's not that bad.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:36 (two years ago)

Fatshaming Trump seems pointless when we have a horrifying description of his penis as part of the public record.

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:43 (two years ago)

The feelings of people saying that they are personally ok with fatphobic comments are not relevant, as it is changing the context and perspective.

Multiple people have said this makes them feel bad. Any decent person would drop it at that point. It's not weird at all to point out that fatphobia is not cool.

felicity, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:55 (two years ago)

Pointing out that Trump is hypocritical about fatshaming others is low-hanging fruit.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 22:58 (two years ago)

Also, you cannot seriously be making arguments about your own conduct by pointing to what Trump does.

The man is a racist, a rapist, and every flavor of horrible in between.

felicity, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:02 (two years ago)

A criminal, a con man, an authoritarian, a cancer in the body politic.

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:35 (two years ago)

trump's struggles with his weight is the most humanizing and relatable thing about him.

treeship., Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:45 (two years ago)

I just came home from the public library having checked out the book his niece Mary Trump wrote about him and their incredibly damaged family. I'm not sure how much of it I can stomach, but I'm going to give it a trial.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:47 (two years ago)

I don't know if he can handle another trial.

an icon of a worried-looking, long-haired, bespectacled man (C. Grisso/McCain), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:48 (two years ago)

it's annoying that this "trump" stuff is still going on. from an artistic point of view, his story should have ended when he was booed at the al smith dinner

treeship., Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:56 (two years ago)

trump is a pathetic rich kid in fifth grade who got caught cheating on a test for the fifth time, threatening not to invite people to his birthday party. he and his guests are way outnumbered but the rest of us pretend otherwise

reggie (qualmsley), Thursday, 5 October 2023 00:17 (two years ago)

we'd much rather critique and belittle each other than stand up together against the bully and his wannabes

― treeship., Wednesday, October 4, 2023 6:45 PM (thirty-three minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

I mean the man famously eats pretty much nothing but fast food and doesn’t believe in exercise, if it’s a struggle he’s not putting up much of a fight

frogbs, Thursday, 5 October 2023 00:20 (two years ago)

Yeah, I don't think the guy is struggling at all, he thinks he is in the peak of health. In fact, iirc, isn't he even explicitly anti-exercise?
