Bowie was a pop star and he wanted to be one. This metal group...don't want to be that and clearly want to just make music and work hard at their gigs.

So basically this is like indie rock, sonics aside. They just want to be successful within their world.

Anybody remember the Jackie-O Motherfucker Wire cover shot kerfuffle? I just recall there was one, no idea what the details were. Seemed like a big deal at the time though.

that’s a crisp clean t-shirt for a classic game. probably would command a hefty price in the vintage market if it’s official merchandise. probably a prized possession only worn for special occasions

also, I dunno, tomb mold play (a now very proggy and extra-nerdy style of) death metal, right? so, aren't there tons of ancient anus.com posts from edgy black metal bands talking about how much they are/were reacting to death metal slobs in sweatpants and wearing corpsepaint and spikey wristbands and stuff to bring romanticism back to _their_ vision of metal? is this really anything new?

Based off their current promo image on Metal Archives, Akercocke has taken a page from the Tomb Mold aesthetic look book and gotten a lot more casual in how they present themselves in press photos. Though I guess they are all at least clad in black and one guy has a bullet belt.
