Bloody hell

sell cigs to kids (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 September 2023 02:54 (two years ago)

just dysfunctional on every level. is there even any part of the club that works anymore other than the mechanisms for sucking money out of it?

NickB, Friday, 8 September 2023 09:01 (two years ago)

there's an element to me of -not to defend this, pls understand - "this could be any club in the epl and beyond" and united while architects of their own handling of each have been also unfortunate

arsenal, city, spurs, everton all also have high profile players that have been corporately/strategically defended to pick a random term for sexual/domestic assault allegations and im only going from memory and recent memory at that

you could say football/epl has a problem, you could say corporate sport or corporate strategy has a problem and i think youd be closer to it than focusing on the utter fucking balls united have made around this issue ever since re-signing ronaldo (or should i bring giggs into it here even? not sure what the club treatment of that issue was)

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Friday, 8 September 2023 10:39 (two years ago)

by which i mean to say in my middle para that the media and legal structures that epl can buy seem to have protected those clubs to an insane degree but uniteds players have all gone unignorably viral or public where the other cases havent to the same extent (or mayb not with three separate cases, tbf)

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Friday, 8 September 2023 10:41 (two years ago)

agree with all of that

School of RAAC (Noodle Vague), Friday, 8 September 2023 11:17 (two years ago)

Seems bizarre that there hasn’t been a move towards something similar to the MLB domestic violence policy that takes some of the decisions out of the hands of the clubs, enables sanctions in the absence of criminal convictions and has an education/ training / psychological intervention element for all players as a preventative measure.

ShariVari, Friday, 8 September 2023 11:20 (two years ago)

That doesn't seem bizarre to me at all tbh.

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Friday, 8 September 2023 11:34 (two years ago)

enables sanctions in the absence of criminal convictions

sports clubs not the only structures that really dont have a standard approach here, not even in the very public sphere

americans presumably

imago, Friday, 15 September 2023 12:26 (two years ago)

Not sure how accurate this is

777's Clubs since they've taken over:

🇦🇺 Melbourne Victory: Yikes. Last season they managed 28 points from 26 games. Lucky there's no relegation in Aussie Football.

🇮🇹 Genoa: Relegated from Serie A in first season of ownership, went straight back up are so far are not…

An update in the comments says Vasco and Sevilla are currently in the relegation zones of their respective leagues.

what better way to give your 20 year old CB his first Prem start than against the Wolves' attack?

that's an incredibly restrained analysis should be three minimum

i'm trying to manage my all purpose anxiety which is aggravated enough whenever i watch us

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 12:25 (two years ago)

i can only recommend appointing ange postecoglou as manager sorry if that doesnt help

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 12:35 (two years ago)

great futuristic half-mullet from Matt Doherty here

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 12:49 (two years ago)

the same half mullet fucked us against the dutch so tbh....

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 12:55 (two years ago)

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 13:17 (two years ago)

got the 2+ goals and the Salah assist, if Jota had managed one shot on target before getting subbed I'd be £110 richer. I need to stop doing these stupid fucking bets!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 16 September 2023 13:20 (two years ago)

delighted for you :|

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 13:23 (two years ago)

alas I didn't win shit, although I'd like to add I wasn't betting on a Wolves loss here.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 16 September 2023 13:29 (two years ago)

oh right, yeah that is a lot of eggs in the one basket

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 13:30 (two years ago)

cunt ref is it

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 14:38 (two years ago)

ref and var total shameless cunts in this game tbh

simple obvious pen ignored, timewasting in the extreme not punished and spurs players booked for nothing

ref has booked sheff utd keeper for handling ourside box but utterly ignored ten mins of timewasting from him

just have clearly decided to help out poor lil shitkicker sheff utd today

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:20 (two years ago)

maddison just booked for....holding his head at another shit decision

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:30 (two years ago)

so any decent managers available?

Number None, Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:34 (two years ago)

you could have seen this coming, hard to ask players to beat the opposition when the ref is so clearly revelling in winding you up at a certain point

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:36 (two years ago)

helluva day for away teams

whatever happened to gravy brain? (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:38 (two years ago)

More like Tenuous Hag than Ten Hag.

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Saturday, 16 September 2023 15:47 (two years ago)

Daft long VAR review for a late Villa penalty. Ref sticks with giving it.

I don't think it should have been overturned but I'm biased

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:02 (two years ago)

And now it's 3-1 Villa hahaha

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:03 (two years ago)

Never in doubt!

ShariVari, Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:03 (two years ago)

ref still needs killing but yesss

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:04 (two years ago)

ended that game with Bruno playing CB

Number None, Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:05 (two years ago)

Ten Hag was the real bald fraud in Manchester all along

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Saturday, 16 September 2023 16:19 (two years ago)

happy for postecoglou and team that they managed to keep the head and pick through the passes for a decent winner, feels like a good mark of progress

but delighted for richarlison who is v much in the soldado bracket of it might not work out but it wont be for lack of trying
