there's very few bars i enjoy going to these days. it's somehow defaulted to [the vaguely rock & roll bar] where the record collectors and musicians i know work now, since the closing of several other bars over the last decade has left few places for the elder hipsters to serve booze.

Had two brandy old fashioned sours tonight at the bar of the finest supper club in the county, felt like a proper WI evening.

Favourite bar with jukebox shut down, do i still go out tonight? would have to dodge and slip around all the manchester footy nobs, but off work for a week so feel i am obliged to have some fun.

This afternoon's office is a friendly dive in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta. Dark wood, relatively cheap beer, crowd of regulars watching the Braves game. I'm doing a few hours work while my wife has a business meeting. They have two boozy slushies, the machines labeled in magic marker on masking tape. I assume they rotate them. Today it's Pink Lemonade and Peach Margarita, but I just went with a beer from a local brewery.

The “.75” in your total leads me to think you paid with a credit card. At small bars, cash is king

You'd think so.. but this place had a sign saying they preferred credit cards, and if you pay by cash, NO COINS ALLOWED

Here in WI if you pay with a card, a 3-ish% surcharge is often added. That is, if they accept cards at all.

At one of my regulars, I get the feeling the staff see me as a narc of sorts, like I’m checking what everyone is doing on behalf of the owner or whatever. The place has an excessive amount of employees who all buzz around trying to keep busy

That’s part of the job, I would not take it personally

Just got a $1 lifetime membership at the local bowls club at the end of my street (1 minute). Never been a bar person, but the basically half price (compared to your fancy bars) schooners are tempting me to hang out with the geriatrics….. Could be fun?

Four big lawn bowls squares branching out with a bar in the middle of it all. Entertainment includes: old rockers playing credence covers, pokie machines, meat raffle giveaways, trivia, cheap lunch meals, very cheep beers. It’s an Aussie institution.
