the site fucking sucks now. most of the good posters are gone, I'm getting bot followers and spam messages constantly, there's a million ads for boner pills, and the blue check shit has made it so all the top replies are cringey as hell. also the timeline seems to be consistently broken so it's not even good for sports anymore. I don't even see the replies I get half the time because notifications are also busted. I just cannot imagine anyone continuing to use this place after it's called "X" or whatever

Elon "Graphic Design Is My Passion" Musk's logo for "X" is literally just Unicode Character “𝕏” (U+1D54F).

love the armchair designers and typographers crawling out of the woodwork here. "literally just Unicode Character “𝕏”" -- ok in what typeface ("font") would that unicode codepoint be rendered? as i type this right now, 𝕏 is being rendered in a sans-serif font that looks nothing like the new logo.

afaik typefaces are intellectual property so one cannot legally use it for whatever they want. also i joked earlier that it looks like the X11 and XE logo but it also kinda looks like the old xerox logo too. there's definitely precedent for simple, single letter trademarks
