poaching 'former' twitter employees.... that would be unemployed engineers looking for work, no poaching

do non-compete clauses carry any weight in this case?
not that this isn't just mini-Facebook or text-instagram, is not like they weren't already doing similar things at scale

threads thing is very dumb, everyone knows you start with a linear timeline then rug pull to a sponcon heavy "algorithmic" timeline once your users are locked in. impressive that zuck managed to fuck even this up

weird that we think he’s in charge of product design and not just trusting an upper executive level who trusts a product manager level and whatever like either he’s completely engaged in the groupthink that decided their recent ventures are good (unlikely) or he’s just going hmm yeah looks good

this kind of dad joke from Zuck seems relatively benign when compared with Elon's attempts meme humour on twitter

I saw of photo the other day that Zuck posted to instagram of him and family celebrating the 4th of July where he was wearing a comedy stars and stripes hat and shorts, and I wonder if he's intentionally trying to portray himself as an endearingly corny suburban dad to improve his image

He frequently attends product and technical meetings for products he’s interested in and regularly commits code.
― Allen (etaeoe), Friday, 7 July 2023 20:31 (two years ago)
we had a boss that would commit code. one monday nothing would run because he'd been in over the weekend and renamed database columns from 'copyright' to 'copywrite' (and multiple similar changes)

Amazing facts!
In 2010, Gareth Williams, a British MI6 spy, was found dead at his London flat with his decomposing body in the bathtub, padlocked inside a bag. Police ruled his death as "accidental" concluding he died by getting into the bag on his own and accidentally locking himself inside. pic.twitter.com/YR5HNgGKBB— Amazing facts! why would you commit code as the head of a company with a zillion employees, that’s goofy I was joking with a friend yesterday that 15 - 20 years ago we’d be excited about new websites and apps, new stuff would come out and maybe it’d be cool, maybe it’d disappear weeks later but there was at least some sense of novelty now, most of the sites and apps that I end up using I try to avoid making an account, they’re necessary to do something I need to do, and so many are bad in ways that didn’t matter when I wanted to just goof off with friends. some of this is a function of age, but not all of itthat friend had posted how some reservations app was trash. turns out, he and his wife were on vacation and had dinner reservations, and she decided to add a reservation for a cocktail bar a few hours later. when she made the second reservation, it canceled the first reservation without any warning. so he tried signing up and the confirmation email/message weren’t working, at which point he was just pissed off
