Sorry drink/be social with complete strangers. It's got plenty of tables if you want to just do your own thing too which is nice and it's not loud at all.

Sorry drink/be social with complete strangers.

Yeah, I'll grant you it's lame for that.

don't listen to all these married shut-in NIMBYS... ;-P <3

orbit room used to be THEEE best cocktail in SF but the main bartender jumped ship and does Youtube cocktail recipe shows.

ed what is your height/inseam.

The wacky lady? Really?

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

Owl Tree was more fun before they changed the decor.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

Heaven's Dog?! Really?! My neighbor takes me there all the time and I find it awfully expensive for the quality of the food.

I have to try Etiquette.

Steve, Ha-Ra isn't really downtown.

One of my favorites, which is FiDi downtown is Cafe Claude which has largely morphed from being a French watering hole to being a biz district lunch spot/date night dinner joint. There's a bartender there named David, from Uruguay, who's a total babe, really nice, and a rather serious bartender about wines and mixed cocktails and the drinks across the street at Gitane are pretty good, too.

Le présent se dégrade, d'abord en histoire, puis en (Michael White), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, don't eat at Heaven's Dog... there are 2 parts to the space, the restaurant (small) and the bar (big)... the cocktails are probably the best in SF no joke... but the price is comparable to NYC, Moscow, Singapore, Tokyo, Oslo.

(*゚ー゚)θ L(。・_・) °~ヾ(・ε・ *) (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 20:11 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, I'll eat there if he's paying. ;) Haven't been to the bar but every time I've been it's been 'full'.

last night in SF - at home nursing an ankle sprain after jumping off a wooden stump while drunk. :( SF's very fun though - we made it out to Taqueria Cancun in the Mission (great) and to Jay's Cheesesteak's (pretty good but I'm from Philly so I reserve the right to be bitchy). tried going to the Little Chihuahua but my friends are lol unemployed so we ended up eating at the cheaper King Foot, which was pretty good. got two dollar pints at Bean-bag Cafe and this bar on Columbus, and spent tonight drinking Belgian ales at a place on Columbus and either Lombard or Greenwich, which is where I sprained my ankle (goodbye to lol NBA career). overall SF's really great, wish I could stay longer - flying out tomorrow night from San Jose. weather was beautiful and clear during my stay, which was a little atypical according to my friend. jealous of all you guys living here!

Phat Philly kicks Jay's ass. if you ever come back and are hanging in the Mission, check it out. Course if you're from Philly why waste a meal on a SF Cheesesteak when there are so many other great places in the Mission.

Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Saturday, 8 August 2009 08:03 (sixteen years ago)

haha I saw a place today that said 'SO. PHILLY CHEESESTEAK' and got all excited, but had some Mitchell ice cream instead (awesome). yeah the Mission seems loaded - I was so happy to have had a destination in mind, otherwise I probably would have sat on the sidewalk and done some sort of Exorcist 360 degree head spinning because of all the great-seeming places that we passed by on our trek to Taqueria Cancun

I will be in SF around October 5.

youn, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:13 (sixteen years ago)

I forgot to mention, I also saw a bunch of shitty experimental films at a bar in the Mission called El Rio, and had some shitty wings at Zeitgeist

a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:24 (sixteen years ago)

should have gone for the cheeseburger at Zeitgeist. one of the best in the city imo.

Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:25 (sixteen years ago)

I can't stand wings, but I've heard Kezar Pub is the only place in the city that does them well.

Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:26 (sixteen years ago)

best wings in SF: San Tung in the Inner Rich, gotta get them salt/pepper or dry

best burger in SF: i really love rosamunde but that's only on Tuesday

(*゚ー゚)θ L(。・_・) °~ヾ(・ε・ *) (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:27 (sixteen years ago)

yeah we tried ordering burgers but the kitchen wasn't making them :( xp

a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:28 (sixteen years ago)

what's so good about Rosamunde's burgers? I love their sausages, but haven't had the opportunity to go there on a Tuesday.

Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

this city kinda sucks for burgers tbh. the fact that Burgermeister always wins reader's polls for best burger in the bay is pretty sad. i like the Big Mouth burgers okay, I guess.

Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:31 (sixteen years ago)

kezar pub wings are indeed good

iatee, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 02:33 (sixteen years ago)

sometime in the next 2 weeks SFans should go see American Casino at the Roxie.

I am playing a show at the Bottom of the Hill wednesday, the 28th; it'll be the last show I play out for a while and there's a good chance I'll have to cancel at the last minute and ruin my reputation, but I'll try to be there.

rather, the 26th.

Hey all, will be back in town tomorrow for the On Land Festival over the weekend. Probably seeing Monotonix tomorrow night, but maybe a random FAP Friday night or the like, anyone?

the thing that gets me about this, is that neither of them were actually sitting in the seat they appeared to be fighting over.

sarahel, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

yeah clip is obviously missing whatever instigated the argument

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

there really can't be another city in the world with a higher % of crazy people on public transit

iatee, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, back in my Muni days, if i suspected a seat might be contested, i sat down, figuring possession is 9/10's of Muni law.

sarahel, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:18 (sixteen years ago)

Early comments on youtube yesterday were comedy gold, including translations... eg, there are a pair of old men off camera goading on the Chinese lady in Chinese:

"Hit her!"
"Yeah, hit her til she dies!"

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:20 (sixteen years ago)

i imagine there could be some pretty epic fights on the 38 geary.

sarahel, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:20 (sixteen years ago)

Translation:

Chinese Lady: (0:09): This bitch got the nerve to yell at me for me asking her politely if i may sit down.
(0.48): If that bitch didn't want to let me sit down don't mean she got to bitch at me.
(0:59): I didn't yell at you bitch why you going off on me. If I don't stand up for myself, she won't get scared.
(1:44): Dare to pick on chinese people?
(2:05): This bitch hogging the seat and I asked nicely if I may sit and that bitch kept hogging the seat. She has no heart, always bullying chinese people.
Old Man#2(1:26): Hit that bitch.
Old Man#3(1:33): Beat that bitch ass.
Old Lady#2(1:37): Don't fight no more.
Old Man#2((1:59): Beat the f*@# out of her!
