Right now on the Loomer feed a blonde reporter is talking to a white guy in a Blacks For Trump shirt holding a sign that says "Count the FBI in this Protest."

Oh, so the blonde reporter was actually the 2020 GOP Senate nominee in Deleware. She claimed that there were pictures of Chris Coons' daughter on the Hunter Biden laptop.

Right now the rapper from the anti-Target video is talking about an election being stolen. Not sure which one he's referring to.

Fun Fact: JD Vance (then known as "James") lived* across the street from my buddy in Bernal Heights, SF about 8-10 years ago, back when he was just a garden variety techbro.

*501 Franconia St for those Zillow curious.

Kinda crazy what a decade can do (though he was working for Thiel at the time so he probably drank the koolaid and some).

Huh, the other side of the hill from me. Figures I guess. I heard one time Charles Johnson (remember him?) was around here some years back.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 June 2023 19:27 (three years ago)

Were there any telltale signs of his current thing in that book of his? I received it as a gift, never read, dropped it at a little free library last year.

omar little, Tuesday, 13 June 2023 19:28 (three years ago)

Lots of Bernal residents on this board iirc ;-)

Yeah that's what was surprising to my (longtime neighborhood resident) friend who said JD and his POC wife (note: they both used different names back then, is that a MAGA thing?) were active in their neighborhood projects (cleanups of neighborhood open space/public stairwells, garden) and seemed pretty non-sociopathic. Then they moved away and JD grew a beard and adopted this whole hillbilly rustbelt salt-of-the-earth persona.

Anything for the grift.

Charles Johnson (remember him?)

The Little Green Footballs Charles Johnson, or the Trump-loving sociopath Charles Johnson?

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 13 June 2023 19:41 (three years ago)

The latter.

― scott seward, Tuesday, June 13, 2023 11:42 AM (six hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

why can't Democrats do this

symsymsym, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 01:20 (three years ago)

as usual, he isn't actually doing anything:

Details: The Ohio Republican is going to put holds on all nominees to the Department of Justice. That means all nominees will require procedural votes and confirmation votes; any one senator can slow down nominees, but a simple majority is required both for a procedural vote and final confirmation.

“If Merrick Garland wants to use these officials to harass Joe Biden’s political opponents, we will grind his department to a halt," he said in a statement.

Most DOJ nominees require procedural votes given the complexities in getting all 100 senators, particularly on the GOP side, to agree on a speedy vote.

The policy does not apply to U.S. marshals, though it does apply to U.S. attorneys. Vance supports Trump in the 2024 primary.

the manwich horror (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 14 June 2023 01:24 (three years ago)

like you're not even slowing them down because your party already grinds these votes to a halt, you're just doing nothing and wanting people to suck you off for it

the manwich horror (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 14 June 2023 01:36 (three years ago)

I feel like a lot of the policies that come out of supposedly liberal cities due to the structure of moneyed/powered/embedded interests are responsible for dysfunction in those places and Vance types say how horrible those cities are and then… full-heartedly just spell out those policies and try to make them true everywhere?

“the problems in SF are terrible, and that’s why we need policies that will make all places have the issues that exist there”
