CNN first reported last week that prosecutors had obtained the audio recording of Trump’s 2021 meeting at his Bedminster, New Jersey, resort, with two people working on the autobiography of Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows as well as aides employed by the former president, including communications specialist Margo Martin.

The transcript of the audio recording suggests that Trump is showing the document he’s discussing to those in the room. Several sources have told CNN the recording captures the sound of paper rustling, as if Trump was waving the document around, though is not clear if it was the actual Iran document.

“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” Trump says at one point, according to the transcript. “This was done by the military and given to me.”

the assignment of this judge is bizarre. don't know enough how these decisions are made but it is suspicious.

1/Before everyone gets too spun up about reports Judge Cannon has been assigned to the Trump case, a little law. I used to be an appellate chief in the 11th Circuit (where Florida is) and I litigated a few appeals where we asked the court of appeals to order a judge to recuse.

Worth noting in that first piece about it that the magistrate judge who was also involved (and was very much not judging like Cannon) is named as well -- as the quoted fellow noted, this all seems like essentially procedure, and almost certainly was factored in to the decision to indict in Florida rather than DC -- which itself removes the prospect of an extended venue fight.

The other thing I'll note is that there's already been quite a few hints and suggestions others are going to be charged as well in this, which would make sense.

As one of the general categories of charges against Trump apparently involves conspiracy, by default you have to be conspiring WITH someone, so.

I know it's unseemly to have a favorite Trump brain-bubble, but I do, and it's when he not only refers to himself in the third person but puts his name in quotes. Makes me laugh every time.
