He's like an alien passing himself off as human in a bad 80s sci-fi movie

We're talking about the same state with Rick Scott as a senator, the standard for secret alien-looking politician is pretty high.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 16 May 2023 14:34 (three years ago)

what is his plan? why is he running? is he running?

Did you spot this attack from a pro-DeSantis super last week that went WAY further than almost any 2024 R's have gone?

Don't expect to see it again: @shelbytalcott scoops that it drew strong pushback within the PAC. One ally called it a "massive mistake."https://t.co/al2WI9nFxq pic.twitter.com/kBGttMOJCd

I don't know about the effect on right wing media, but the much-anticipated Durham Report already seems to be fading down the headlines, a day after its release

there were no bombshells, and there was no 'total exoneration' - apparently it stated that Trump should have been investigated, but agents should've vetted their sources better - and that's about it

My favorite current right-wing conspiracy theory is about the Biden whistleblowers. Supposedly there is a whistleblower, but now that mysterious whistleblower, who has not been named or identified, has vanished, possibly because the deep state covered it up, possibly because he's been murdered, along with a whole bunch of other whistleblowers. Because if they weren't disappeared, one way or the other, then why have they not appeared? Logic.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 16 May 2023 19:26 (three years ago)

Last I saw they have the whistleblower still, and he's got really good stuff, but his main witness is the one who went missing.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 16 May 2023 19:28 (three years ago)

It’s a living, sadly.

“A conflict inside former President Donald J. Trump’s legal team erupted into public view on Saturday as one of his former lawyers went on television to attack one of his current lawyers, who has been the focus of ire from others on the team.”

The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Sunday, 21 May 2023 00:56 (three years ago)

Haha... She's going for it:

The author and columnist E Jean Carroll will go back to court to demand “very substantial” additional damages from Donald Trump for the disparaging remarks he made about her during a televised CNN town hall just a day after he was found liable in a civil case for sexually assaulting her.

An amended lawsuit seeking an additional $10m in compensatory damages – and more in punitive damages – was filed in Manhattan on Monday by lawyers for Carroll...

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 17:44 (three years ago)

Raymond C I wonder if any of these lawyers has been paid yet

Landfill Collins (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 17:46 (three years ago)

If they didn't demand sizeable retainers, then they're even dumber than I thought.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 17:47 (three years ago)

Here's your sizeable retainer

Trump is now calling DeSantis "Rob" because of a typo in a Daily Mail headline.

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:22 (three years ago)

By now these lawyers HAVE to be demanding retainers or they don’t deserve their law licenses

The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:24 (three years ago)

Classic alpha dog move from Trump letting the whole world see how he's whining like a little baby to Merrick Garland for mercy. Meanwhile, Michael Beschloss is feeling like a lil mischief maker.

that letter also implies that Hunter Biden is being treated fairly, so...

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 24 May 2023 17:16 (three years ago)

When I read stuff like that, I am reminded (as though I needed another reminder) just how repugnant Trump's personality is on a basic human level.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 24 May 2023 18:35 (three years ago)

some of the replies speculate that this is a desperate last ditch effort to head off the document mishandling indictment that's likely dropping soon

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 24 May 2023 18:41 (three years ago)

That's no joke. He's likely facing charges under the Espionage Act.

Trump gets really lucky with opponents sometimes

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Thursday, 25 May 2023 00:06 (three years ago)

Not with this one he doesn't:

NEW: Trump's lawyers are warning him to get ready for a *federal* indictment, and soonhttps://t.co/zwxprl6mkj

— Noah Shachtman (@NoahShachtman) May 25, 2023

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 25 May 2023 20:32 (three years ago)

The article more or less says the lawyers want him to "get ready" because it would be stupid to be caught flat-footed and unprepared when the smart alternative is to prepare for it, even if it doesn't happen. Duh. Of course lawyers would give that advice. It's the right advice.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 25 May 2023 20:45 (three years ago)

If by 'get ready' they meant 'prepare an array of personal assaults to lob at any potential judge and/or their family members once the hammer drops', I think he's on the case.
