He just consistently overestimates how important Twitter is to its power users, media companies in particular — when the power users are actually the ones who are important to Twitter.

Normally I'd predict blue checks will still be there by the end of the day, but 4/20 is a sacred date for Musk. Even more so than 6/9.

I signed up for Twitter blue back in 2021, long before Elon bought the site, bc as a content creator, the ability to post long videos was invaluable. It still is. I respect alternative choices, but someone of us are actually paying for a useful professional service.

the 'this mo'fo paid for Twitter' burn was actually pretty hilarious the first month or so but I've gotten tired of it.

which isn't to say the move to paid only blue checks isn't completely horrible, because it defeats the purpose of the checks to begin with, and it's just going to increase the amount of fake news and imposters and detritus on that platform.

NEW: Have confirmed that LeBron, who has 52 million followers and has said he won’t pay for verification, was emailed by a Twitter employee with the offer to have his sub comped “on behalf of Elon Musk.”

James did not accept but his account is showing that he paid anyway.
