it has no legal bearing - is years out of date (probably a cpl) but still exerts power over them - though it doesnt even have the weight of his last wishes

Haha, guilty. I think there has been a version of this in every episode—something that wasn’t intended as ominous but was received as such. (Why did Kendall decide to push Matson? Why did Roman need to go onto the plane? What was on the paper - who is the princess??).

I think they’ll accept it. Everyone else wants it. I mean maybe Mattson is playing games but he seems like he actually wants the deal. Once he realized Kendall and Roman were trying to blow it up, he fucked them by going over the top (per Shiv’s advice that he could get it with a little bump in the price) and making it too good to turn down.

Of course there are still ways it could go wrong, but it seems like the sale is going through.

I loved how immediately Mattson saw what they were clumsily up to, another example of Ken and Rom not actually knowing how to do business. Mattson’s a toxic weirdo but he’s way out of their weight class in knowing what he’s doing.
