thank u jaymc!!

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 05:22 (three years ago)

did anyone think Logan was going to croak at the end of the episode? Leaving aside the fact that he is obviously immortal

Critique of the Goth Programme (Neil S), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 08:14 (three years ago)

the following nine episodes of the season would have been the kids and associated hangers-on squabbling over his carcass

Critique of the Goth Programme (Neil S), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 08:15 (three years ago)

I liked the bit when Carl said 'butter my beanpole'

paolo, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 10:37 (three years ago)

The Disgusting Brothers is like the El Dude Brothers' phase 2
"Don't smile like that. You're not James Bond, you're disgusting!"

kinder, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 11:37 (three years ago)

I like that Greg is not in fact becoming Suave Greg like they were hinting at earlier but in fact he is just becoming More Greg than ever, just now with more power, thus more ability to hurt people

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 11:54 (three years ago)

i could have sworn that the reveal was going to be that the whole pierce acquisition was a plot by logan and tom to manipulate the kids into overpaying for a devalued property. i guess it still could have been? but probably not. still seems like a pretty fucking dumb move by the kids.

best bit was everyone's responses to logan forcing them to roast him. second best bit was conner desperately trying to cling to his one percent.

na (NA), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 14:03 (three years ago)

karl and frank are the best

na (NA), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 14:06 (three years ago)

the actor who plays karl is an ianucci veteran and is one of the more deeply funny actors around

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:15 (three years ago)

Yeah I was just realising cos I’d watched In The Loop a few months back that he’s the psycho deputy Secretary of State in that.

limb tins & cum (gyac), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:16 (three years ago)

yeah the deadpan humor was there, but he was honestly pretty menacing in that one

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:17 (three years ago)

also great as the opposition leader in veep

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:18 (three years ago)

David Rasche, aka Karl, will always be Sledge Hammer! to me. One of the greats.

Judi Dench's Human Hand (methanietanner), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:18 (three years ago)

lol same

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:19 (three years ago)

trust me, i know what i'm doing

Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:34 (three years ago)

many xps - thanks for the links to the locations jaymc, although it raises questions for me about where these are supposed to be narratively. idk i guess maybe the ultra-rich really would take a jet for what otherwise might be a 2-hour drive.

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:46 (three years ago)

they would prob just take a helicopter

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:50 (three years ago)

elon musk flew from san jose to sf once

, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 15:51 (three years ago)

they're all so unhappy aren't they? Loving it. Also loved Roman being the only one of the sibs who has any actual business nous, and even he got seduced into bidding for the dead media company that seems an even more bullshit idea than the substack-meets-the-new-yorker-meets website.

dicbo=v2-ubswizzb&hrt (stevie), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 16:00 (three years ago)

I genuinely wonder how many people watch this show aspirationally. Random comments I've seen around the nets suggest that it's kind of a lot.

Beautiful Bean Footage Fetishist (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 17:47 (three years ago)

That's depressing.

I mean, I'll cop to enjoying the peeks we get into these insanely expensive mansions and locales, but I can't imagine ever wanting to be anything like any of these people.

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 17:49 (three years ago)

don't think i've irl loled at an ep so much before

Logan just so bored at his birthday party that he decides to make his kids fuck themselves out of ten billion dollars, to try and feel something

Loved the descriptions of Hundred--"an indispensable, bespoke media hub … one-stop info shop, high-calorie info snacks" because it sounds exactly like something Johnson from Peep Show would say.

blatherskite, Thursday, 30 March 2023 21:25 (three years ago)

"like clickbait, but for smart people"

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 30 March 2023 21:52 (three years ago)

it was honestly perfect & then even better for how quickly they ditch it for the pierce deal

johnny crunch, Friday, 31 March 2023 00:36 (three years ago)

kendall’s nonsense pitches are my whole life

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 31 March 2023 01:13 (three years ago)

“Info parcels...info parcels or info snacks?”

omar little, Friday, 31 March 2023 14:20 (three years ago)

Extremely enjoyed how the first half of the episode was essentially an extended subtweet of the England and Wales Cricket Board by the show's English writers. Fuck The Hundred indeed lol

imago, Saturday, 1 April 2023 12:40 (three years ago)

The deals and plotting are getting very byzantine even for this show, but totally worth it for Leonard Cohen karaoke.

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 3 April 2023 19:55 (three years ago)

kendall’s nonsense pitches are my whole life

"So my floaty kinda semi-pitch would be hardcore international news. From global-global to hyperlocal. Maybe focus on Africa. Every day. Like, 'What's happening in Africa?' Sub-Saharan east, Sub-Saharan west. I would watch that shit."

jaymc, Monday, 3 April 2023 20:05 (three years ago)

No you wouldn’t.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 3 April 2023 20:08 (three years ago)

^^ pretty much what the Financial Times does

underwater as a compliment (Eazy), Monday, 3 April 2023 20:21 (three years ago)

speaking of nonsensical word salad, tom's intro for logan was great. zero full sentences.

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Monday, 3 April 2023 21:23 (three years ago)

It's a network that teaches you how to watch it.

omar little, Monday, 3 April 2023 21:33 (three years ago)

It's like Jaws if everyone worked for Jaws.

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 3 April 2023 21:37 (three years ago)

Man, that whole Kerry & Greg scene.

"The arms aren't right"

groovypanda, Monday, 3 April 2023 21:55 (three years ago)

lol, I was just going to post that.
that whole bit with the guy having to open up his laptop

kinder, Monday, 3 April 2023 22:02 (three years ago)

Yeah but obviously he would have just closed the window before connecting to the projector, I mean c'mon.

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 3 April 2023 22:05 (three years ago)

lol i thought the same thing. a rare miss.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 22:27 (three years ago)

"they're fucking jam smears on the highway"

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 22:27 (three years ago)

so.. kendall wants to blow the deal up on purpose? matson told him point blank he'd walk away. what's he doing?

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 22:30 (three years ago)

youre all needy love sponges…. and im a plant that grows on rocks and lives off insects that die inside of me

johnny crunch, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:09 (three years ago)

I guess he wants to mess up Logan / get attention from Logan? Agree it was a little unclear but I feel we have established that Kendall’s daddy issues are capable of inspiring all sorts of self-defeating behaviour

meat and two vdgg (emsworth), Monday, 3 April 2023 23:12 (three years ago)

matsen doesnt want to pay more $, why would he say anything other than ill walk whether or not its true?

johnny crunch, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:20 (three years ago)

Theorizing that he’s a canny observer of the family dynamic, similar to Nan Pierce, and he’s trying to obliquely create a situation in which he can drive Logan’s asking price down?

omar little, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:23 (three years ago)

This is not a show that lends itself to following any specific predictions though to its credit.

omar little, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:24 (three years ago)

he seems to have a major moment of realisation on the steps of the subway.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:27 (three years ago)

Good lines this whole ep but Roman's beatle simile was out of character. I guess he could have just watched get back on d+ but there's no way that dudes likes rock music.

kurt schwitterz, Monday, 3 April 2023 23:38 (three years ago)

i dont think the use of a beatles simile means anything other than roman knows the names of beatles
