i personally only see occasional spam on there

I think it's definitely mostly trying to get people to pay. "Overrun by bots" has been his excuse for almost everything with Twitter.

B "only i can defeat bots!"

C "only YOU can prevent bots-- PAY ME!"

not sure the above is even as dumb as today’s change making RT’d replies render as discrete OPs

lol dril on there

New: For months, Twitter has maintained a list of VIP users, including LeBron James, Glenn Greenwald, Ben Shapiro, AOC, and Marc Andreessen, that it monitors and gives increased visibility to on the platform. 1/ https://t.co/PnXhb6dvth

i've def noticed more bots since elon took over, if you tweet the word "shrooms" you will get several replies trying to sell you drugs. for a while if you tweeted certain curse words bots would offer you "cheap glokks 4 sale."

JoeStork, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 02:15 (three years ago)

yeah the bots are out there but they target specific things. I'm definitely getting more DMs from bots.

i wonder if he actually believes that or its just an excuse to pull another lever to get people to pay

Elon's brain seems like it's been completely devoured by worms by this point so "what he actually believes" may be basically nothing however the idea that "Twitter polls" mean anything seems like it may have came from Trump 'retruthing' some catturd Twitter poll

frogbs, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 02:23 (three years ago)

speaking of this loser said he was gonna abide by the results of a Twitter poll asking if he should resign

frogbs, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 02:24 (three years ago)

I hate this dipshit so naturally I think everything he does is dumb but it's really astonishing how bad every single idea he has is. not only is he making the site much worse he's hemmoraging money and also proving himself as one of the worst bosses in human history

frogbs, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 02:56 (three years ago)

its really something

if it sheds the scales from people's eyes regarding the titans of silicon valley being brilliant leaders of men deserving of our adulation then it will all have (not) been worth it

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Tuesday, 28 March 2023 12:51 (three years ago)

the funny thing about all this is you only really notice the bots when you actually click on the tweets of Elon or any of his sycophants which means whoever's designing them is specifically targeting those people thinking they're easy marks. once you block Elon, catturd, and anyone with a doge avatar you don't really see them at all.

i've been covering a hacker take over multiple celeb accounts on here for weeks

the hacker hasn't spent a dime on here to scam. they've already stolen thousands at least

Twitter has barely done a thing about it & paid verification will make it even worse

This is good: https://techcrunch.com/2023/03/28/twitter-is-dying/

The simple truth is that building something valuable — whether that’s knowledge, experience or a network worth participating in — is really, really hard. But tearing it all down is piss easy.

nickn, Thursday, 30 March 2023 05:43 (three years ago)

there's a free layer as well, 1,500 tweets a month, ~50 a day. unfortunately that kills Cheap Bots Done Quick which is what my bots use and which hosts thousands of others.

(mm, i wonder if i can cobble together an aws lambda that does the same?)

i dont feel like switching my bots to the new free tier theyre all on v1 hopefully it just keeps working

New: The New York Times says it is not planning to pay for Twitter verification:

"We aren't planning to pay the monthly fee for verification of our institutional Twitter accounts," a spokesperson tells me.

awww did constantly calling the MSM liars and scumbags not work out for you

frogbs, Thursday, 30 March 2023 18:37 (three years ago)

curious which direction he's gonna go with this he's either gonna dramatically reduce the cost and get mad when they still don't pay or call everyone a bunch of pedos

frogbs, Thursday, 30 March 2023 18:39 (three years ago)

once famous people are sick of being impersonated, I think their only option is to shut down their account and let everyone know (on Instagram) that any tweets you see are not theirs

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Thursday, 30 March 2023 18:43 (three years ago)

imo musk won't reduce the cost because changing it would be an admission of failure. He won't call everyone a pedo for not paying up, because that would call attention to his failure, too. instead he'll defect attention away from the fiasco as best he can by churning out more attention-grabbing chaotic garbage in heroic quantities until he explodes or no one cares any more and the world stops looking. Or both.

is this good

"From September to October of last year, the top 10 advertisers on Twitter spent $71 million on ads, according to estimates from Pathmatics. In the past two months, that figure dropped to just $7.6 million, a decline of 89%, the research firm said."https://t.co/9R7gWkPAXS

rob, Thursday, 30 March 2023 19:12 (three years ago)

dogshit MSM orgs not paying seems pretty bad for them, feel like most big companies are probably gonna folow suit because Elon's made the very idea of paying for Twitter such a radioactive & desperate thing. obviously Nazi rags like Stormfront and Daily Wire might swoop in but I kinda feel they can't afford it.

frogbs, Thursday, 30 March 2023 19:26 (three years ago)

Never mind also all the local governments and non profit organizations absolutely can not and will not pay $120,000 a year for a blue check mark.

"The pudding incident?" (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 30 March 2023 19:41 (three years ago)

And again, the reason Twitter had verification was because they got sued over verification.

"The pudding incident?" (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 30 March 2023 19:43 (three years ago)

Sued over celebrity impersonators, that is .

"The pudding incident?" (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 30 March 2023 19:44 (three years ago)

yea I mean I suspect most big companies are sorta looking at each other like "we doing this er nah?" and if a few go "no because the checkmark is meaningless" I can't imagine any of them will
