why do i hate that thing so much where people post stuff like: "Mozart would have been 412 today...."

i mean saying happy birthday to a long-dead person who isn't related to you always seemed kinda lame anyway - who cares? - but telling people how old that person would have been if...they...were alive?

i don't get it.

scott seward, Tuesday, 3 October 2023 15:37 (two years ago)

a huge part of the problem with all memes, posts, shares and internet humor now is that they're all bogged down with baroquely cutesy wording to try and freshen up a banal observation, minor factoid, or low-wattage punchline. typically by just plugging it into whatever was last summer's trending sassy verbal construction. everything is just encrusted with verbiage.

I still hear these memes in Mary Hart's voice.

So, you're into Primus and Tool now coz Billy has played with them and Alice In Chains because he covers their song.
That's nice.
😉
Yeah, I'm old. But I've seen all your favorite bands live and in their prime.

We do not talk enough about how the creator of bobs burgers has successfully switched the animated family dinamic from confrontational and toxic, to wholesome and loving. They successfully proved an animated show focused on a family doesn't have to exhibit some sort of abuse between eachother, in order to be entertaining or funny. The belchers represent the healthier and more idealistic depiction of a modern american family. They consistently touch on relatable and realistic problems from childhood life lessons to complicated adult conflicts all while not failing to maintain a consistent comedic relief. Bobs burgers is such a comforting show to watch if you grew up with any sort of childhood trauma or parental issues. It's also a great show to watch anyways because it's genuinely just such a fun, entertaining show. We need to praise bobs burgers more!

Not only is this not why I love Bob's Burgers, this feels like something one of my Deacons would have said I'm high school

Jesus is everything a thinkpiece now

Mommas of Daughters,

Remember… they called her a distraction.

Even when he took the field in a team sport.
Even when she sat on the sidelines.
Even when the cameras panned to her.
Even when she is successful in her own right as a solo artist.
Even when the franchise made money off of her.
Even when the male dominated industry used her presence to bring itself out of years of declining popularity.

She was the distraction. Remember?

When society decided it was totally acceptable to call women distractions, remind them that what society is really trying to say is that they are still afraid of women with power.

Mommas of Daughters, teach them to enter the room, the arena, any space with heads held high and a peace of mind that their distraction won’t warrant any type of reaction from her.

✍️: Backwards N High Heels

Like I like Taylor, think there was definitely misogyny present amongst male fans who complained about her presence or would call Kelce things like "cuck". I think their relationship is cute. I enjoyed watching her celebrate at games. People who are bothered by it can grow up.

But JFC, the NFL's income has increased every year except 2020, and this year's TV ratings during the regular season were the second highest in recorded history. So suggesting she singlehandedly saved football is hilarious.

They call us "The Elders" We were born in the 40s-50s-60s. We grew up in the 50s-60s-70s. We studied in the 60s-70s-80s. We dated in the 70s-80s-90s. We got married and discovered the world in the 70s-80s-90s. We ventured into the 80s-90s.
We stabilized in the 2000s. We became wiser in 2010. And we are firmly moving beyond 2020. It seems like we live in eight different decades... TWO different centuries... TWO separate millennials...
We have gone from telephone with a long distance operator to video calls anywhere in the world.
We've gone from slides to YouTube, vinyl records to online music, handwritten letters to email and WhatsApp. From live game radio, to black and white television, to color television and then to 3D HD television. I went to the video store and now I watch Netflix.
We met the first computers, punched cards, floppy disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones. We wore shorts all our childhood and then trousers, oxfords, rockets, full shells and blue jeans. We dodged infantile paralysis, meningitis, polio, tuberculosis, swine flu and now COVID-19. We used to ride roller skates, tricycles, bicycles, mopeds, gasoline or diesel cars and now we drive hybrids or electric cars.
Yes, we've been through a lot, but what a life we've had! They could describe us as "exemplars", people born in that world of the fifties, who had an analog childhood and digital adulthood. We're like "I've seen it all"! Our generation has literally lived and witnessed more than anyone else in all dimensions of life. It is our generation that has literally adapted to "CHANGE." A big round of applause to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE!

the comments are....super.

"Born in 65 we respected our parents and elders, explored , had family outing, whole community loved one another, always knew where your children were, didn't never have to lock the door on your house and we damn sure didn't throw a hissy fit if we didn't get our way,us kids picked up coke bottles and cleaned neighbors yard for weekend money, never ever hardly heard of anyone getting killed, and every damn one of us was bipolar but we didn't get a check,we got a belt to our ass and we didn't threaten to call the cops on our own parents."
