Up yours, Pope moralists!

JP is kinda useful as a perfect case study in self-reinforcing group delusions. Too bad about all those badly deluded acolytes he's attracted, but -shrugs- what can you do?

If they hadn't fallen for Peterson they'd have fallen for something/someone. Some people are born followers.

Every time I open this thread I hope it's been bumped because he fell down a well or was eaten by an escaped tiger or something.

This is very funny.

Every year it gets funnier when someone plays dumb and tries to defend their interest in him on the grounds of psychology or standard issue self-help. (Latest: the Spitfire Audio transphobe)

We should implement a rule that a thread only gets bumped when the person in question is dead. We could call it the Morrissey rule.

if the site engineers could somehow organise for JP to receive a moderate electric shock every time the thread is bumped, that would he ideal.

― serving aunt (stevie), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 15:33 (two years ago)
This latest bout of faux outrage over the term "cis" would be funny if it weren't so irritating.
― immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 15:47 (two years ago)
Treating it like a slur is so weird, I've never heard anyone say cis in any kind insulting way. I also love the whole "it's an invented word" thing — unlike all those other words that weren't invented. Anyway JP probably thinks it sounds like sissy or something.
― a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 15:58 (two years ago)
These are the same people who usually refuse to call a trans person by their preferred names/pronouns.
― immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 15:59 (two years ago)
was the usage 'cis-sy' though I've only heard it said rather than written. But I thought it was some kind of silly word play on a term that may well be archaic now. That is as in what was said to the person the story is about and what spread from there in a giant game of telephone. But could be the story is just overtaking the event anyway.
& is the old term spelt sissy or cissy anyway& is it one that hasn't been reclaimed since its original era anyway.
Heard a version of teh stroy on a podcast a couple of weeks back and I'm not remembering all the details. But is it still causing mass outrage,
― Stevo, Wednesday, 28 June 2023 16:07 (two years ago)
They don't object because it sounds like sissy. They object because there's a word for them at all.
― Alito Bit of Soap (President Keyes), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 16:13 (two years ago)
it would be one thing if this guy was a conservative media personality or something where his job is to be outraged but no this dude is a psychologist, he's supposed to actually help people with their mental health

― Alito Bit of Soap (President Keyes), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 16:44 (two years ago)
Yeah, they are the definers, not the defined. JP decides whether to use your pronouns, you don't decide anything about him at all. Just linguistic power games.
― a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 28 June 2023 17:03 (two years ago)
Because they use “trans” as a slur they assume “cis” must also be a slur
― I am using your worlds, Wednesday, 28 June 2023 17:12 (two years ago)

its nice this guy has completely blown through the strangely high level of credibility he had a few years ago because I have to say I find him to be incredibly funny sometimes. he's like a Seinfeld character particularly a cross between Newman and Crazy Joe Davola.
