tbh between my post not long ago about how maybe Elon’s strategy could work, if he wasn’t such a self-aggrandizing weirdo, and my recent attempts to understand latter-day SV mindset, I’ve been starting to question if I should have tried to move out to the bay area to join a startup fifteen years ago

Yeah sorry, these types of people are the exact reason why people like me had to leave the Bay Area. I don’t care about them losing their jobs or their fortunes or anything— many of them will have made in a few years what I will make in the next decade. Fuck them and fuck their defenders.

elon has done many bad, stupid things with twitter, but one thing he deserves credit for is switching up the buttons seemingly at random multiple times a day. this is important to prevent the formation of muscle memory, keeping users from entering The Poster’s Flow

The web app has been giving me "there was a login to your account from a new device" notifications like crazy since yesterday. I log in and out a lot and as far as I can tell every instance is me. I changed my pwd to be safe and it keeps happening. Great site!

API issue seems to be resolved, for now anyway. Who knows what's next? It's providing an added dose of daily chaos in our lives, it's good, it makes us adaptable. Elon doesn't want us to get stuck in our ruts, gotta shake things up.

there's this meme that twitter doesn't have a dev environment but ... it does. it's pretty easy to catch this class of configuration bug because all twitter employees on the internal network get the dev environment when they visit twitter.com. i'm guessing part of the the problem now is there are so few users outside pacific time, so they make a change in the middle of the night, don't get any complaints because there are no internal users in like tokyo or singapore any more, and think that means it's good to ship.
