they're cowards for not making it a tetralogy!

sault bae (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 18 January 2023 16:46 (three years ago)

oh, I was wrong. my reading comprehension was off and I've forgotten things. there are TWO Thrawn trilogies in canon (groan, lol)

mh, Wednesday, 18 January 2023 16:49 (three years ago)

note that I would get bored and have time off work around the holidays and I think I've read every Star Wars book that is in-canon, other than maybe some of the newest grand republic era ones

three weeks pass...

wouldn't hate it if they adapted the Thrawn comic miniseries by Jody Houser, but i think most of those new era comics will be ignored (much like everything they did regarding Han Solo)

Nhex, Wednesday, 8 February 2023 15:45 (three years ago)

that's an adaptation of the first Thrawn novel in the new series of them, so... it's canon, but who knows

mh, Wednesday, 8 February 2023 15:49 (three years ago)

My kid LOVES Thrawn. He reads and rereads all the novels constantly. He’d lose his shit if there were an adaptation.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Wednesday, 8 February 2023 16:33 (three years ago)

there is a pretty good chance that Thrawn's going to show up in the Ahsoka live show

mh, Wednesday, 8 February 2023 19:05 (three years ago)

i'm blue (da ba dee)

sault bae (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 8 February 2023 19:05 (three years ago)

xpost - is that the new Thrawn trilogies that he enjoys? haven't read any of the new ones, but loved the hell out of the Heir to the Empire original

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 8 February 2023 20:22 (three years ago)

Never heard of that book series but just bought the first one for my mando loving kid. Thanks ilx!

It started with the new trilogy, yeah. He went back to the older ones too and loves those too.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Thursday, 9 February 2023 05:05 (three years ago)

My son loves the Thrawn trilogy, read multiple times.

he'll flip out if the big man appears in some SW adjacent TV show.

my opinionation (Hamildan), Thursday, 9 February 2023 15:26 (three years ago)

If the cartoons count, he was in multiple seasons of Star Wars: Rebels

mh, Thursday, 9 February 2023 15:41 (three years ago)

just saw Jackie Hoffman perform live and thought - again - how she'd be perfect for a role in this. Star Wars loves its cranky jews at the edge of the galaxy.

POLIZISTEN VERSINKEN IM SCHLAMM (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 9 February 2023 16:30 (three years ago)

pirate stuff felt like trek

Cinta Kaz is comin' to town (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 2 March 2023 03:44 (three years ago)

The great crossover. Enjoyed it, felt like a good warming up.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 2 March 2023 07:20 (three years ago)

yes, we also dug it. "No squeeze" was a big hit with the little guys watching at home (not a big hit with the little guys on screen obv).

Cinta Kaz is comin' to town (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 2 March 2023 18:33 (three years ago)

I wish I could use the Force to spin around in my office chair.

Bruce Hornsby–Big Stick 3:15 (Eliza D.), Thursday, 2 March 2023 18:35 (three years ago)

Mando mooching around talking to people about stuff I can't really remember. Boring.

It looked nice though.

chap, Friday, 3 March 2023 21:24 (three years ago)

this felt like it was written by a 12 year old

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 8 March 2023 02:44 (three years ago)

Favreau has sole or co-writing credit on every ep this season, according to IMDB.

Just fyi

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Wednesday, 8 March 2023 06:18 (three years ago)

Mythosaur?

a hallan shaker loon (dowd), Wednesday, 8 March 2023 20:21 (three years ago)

Well, that was an odd choice. Plz no more boring clone man.

a hallan shaker loon (dowd), Wednesday, 15 March 2023 21:17 (three years ago)

Intriguing tangent potentially but hard to see what it's setting up. Always nice to see Coruscant by night though (and a chunk of its biggest mountain lol ok).

nashwan, Wednesday, 15 March 2023 22:03 (three years ago)

More like Andorlorian, amirite?

In terms of setting up, I assume Elai is still working for Moff Gideon undercover in that Amnesty place and trying to get Pershing to return to the Empire/Gideon (unless turning the Mind Flayer up to 11 is going to pulp his mind as he knows too much)]

groovypanda, Thursday, 16 March 2023 07:12 (three years ago)

This week’s episode did a great job of underscoring how impressive Andor was

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Friday, 17 March 2023 04:00 (three years ago)

Ha, true enough but I liked the (inadvertent?) suggestion that troublemakers get stuck in bureaucratic grind jobs no matter who is in charge.

Personally I liked this episode a lot. Great action out of the gate and then a whole lot of burning tension.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 17 March 2023 06:02 (three years ago)

Yeah I liked it fine. My kids were bored to tears.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Friday, 17 March 2023 14:10 (three years ago)

starting to think the new republic didn't execute a certain Moff and his troops are out there rallying

mh, Friday, 17 March 2023 14:41 (three years ago)

No problems with this episode, but it could have been shaved down by about 10 minutes and still have been just as fine.

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 17 March 2023 14:42 (three years ago)

This is long-game fan-canon pondering but if you've also been watching The Bad Batch like me, I think there's some clear groundwork being laid for a long-arc of secret Imperial cloning research/measures. The first season of that ended in Kamino's destruction, in essence, but keeping key scientists for further research, and there's been irregular moments and scenes throughout this season, which still has three episodes to go, have been building out something going on further with that. That series is some thirty years in the past to Mandalorian of course but there's a conceptual throughline.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 17 March 2023 14:56 (three years ago)

I seem to remember someone making clones with force powers some decades down the line

mh, Friday, 17 March 2023 14:57 (three years ago)

It's pretty clear that's what's underpinning things!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 17 March 2023 14:59 (three years ago)

I actually really liked this episode and how off course it went! Though I definitely not expect to see an episode about how The New Republic's very communist dystopia is only slightly better, but mostly the same, as the Empire's peak era in Andor.

Nhex, Friday, 17 March 2023 19:51 (three years ago)

It kinda fits in with that comment in the first episode from Carl Weathers about not wanting to be under New Republic control either. (Add in the long term stuff about how Leia has to kinda fund the Resistance on her own or whatever she ended up doing -- basically, 'winning' is messy and uneven even at the best of times.)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 17 March 2023 20:21 (three years ago)

Caught that Bad Batch resonance too.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Saturday, 18 March 2023 04:08 (three years ago)

Funny watching this latest episode at the same time as episode 3 of Last of Us, where they both start with the main characters, shift to a verrrry long unrelated story, then go back to the main characters at the end. The difference being that Last of Us connected the middle story back to the main characters and in Mando I have no clue why it was included yet. (Possibly just payback for Mando hijacking two episodes of Boba Fett.)

Vinnie, Sunday, 19 March 2023 01:55 (three years ago)

On top of the obvious connection of Pedro Pascal accompanying a child on dangerous adventures

Vinnie, Sunday, 19 March 2023 01:57 (three years ago)

I think we’re being primed for the reappearance of the chicken man

mh, Sunday, 19 March 2023 14:37 (three years ago)

everybody knows TIEs don't just appear out of nowhere - they have no hyperdrives. where was the imperial ship? worst. episode. ever.

, Wednesday, 22 March 2023 03:50 (three years ago)

Coupled with the "Mandalore was poisoned was a lie to keep us away" bit, I guess the implication could be there's an Empire base somewhere on the planet?

groovypanda, Wednesday, 22 March 2023 16:45 (three years ago)

That's an interesting idea. Maybe just in the Mandalore System and not necessarily Mandalore itself.

He got blown up in Mos Eisley last night IIRC

The Chicken Man? Didn't he stay behind of the floating Lizard island?

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Wednesday, 22 March 2023 19:25 (three years ago)

well guess that kid that got swallowed by the big bird has got ptsd to rival grogu's now

"no jetpacks! ok, now that we've climbed up to the top, let's use our jetpacks"

cool to see Ahmed Best tho

nashwan, Wednesday, 22 March 2023 19:46 (three years ago)

Fun stuff this season - fx stuff has been excellent - but the lack of a villain makes these episodes feel like a whole lot of “ world building ” (yuck) and not much else.

SQUIRREL MEAT!! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Wednesday, 22 March 2023 20:26 (three years ago)

Whereas I love a bit of world building and hadn’t even registered there wasn’t a villain

I am using your worlds, Wednesday, 22 March 2023 21:33 (three years ago)

Just a bit is fine but not all of it!
