oh, I was wrong. my reading comprehension was off and I've forgotten things. there are TWO Thrawn trilogies in canon (groan, lol)

note that I would get bored and have time off work around the holidays and I think I've read every Star Wars book that is in-canon, other than maybe some of the newest grand republic era ones

wouldn't hate it if they adapted the Thrawn comic miniseries by Jody Houser, but i think most of those new era comics will be ignored (much like everything they did regarding Han Solo)

that's an adaptation of the first Thrawn novel in the new series of them, so... it's canon, but who knows

My kid LOVES Thrawn. He reads and rereads all the novels constantly. He’d lose his shit if there were an adaptation.

It started with the new trilogy, yeah. He went back to the older ones too and loves those too.

My son loves the Thrawn trilogy, read multiple times.

If the cartoons count, he was in multiple seasons of Star Wars: Rebels

just saw Jackie Hoffman perform live and thought - again - how she'd be perfect for a role in this. Star Wars loves its cranky jews at the edge of the galaxy.

Intriguing tangent potentially but hard to see what it's setting up. Always nice to see Coruscant by night though (and a chunk of its biggest mountain lol ok).

In terms of setting up, I assume Elai is still working for Moff Gideon undercover in that Amnesty place and trying to get Pershing to return to the Empire/Gideon (unless turning the Mind Flayer up to 11 is going to pulp his mind as he knows too much)]

Ha, true enough but I liked the (inadvertent?) suggestion that troublemakers get stuck in bureaucratic grind jobs no matter who is in charge.

Personally I liked this episode a lot. Great action out of the gate and then a whole lot of burning tension.

Yeah I liked it fine. My kids were bored to tears.

No problems with this episode, but it could have been shaved down by about 10 minutes and still have been just as fine.

This is long-game fan-canon pondering but if you've also been watching The Bad Batch like me, I think there's some clear groundwork being laid for a long-arc of secret Imperial cloning research/measures. The first season of that ended in Kamino's destruction, in essence, but keeping key scientists for further research, and there's been irregular moments and scenes throughout this season, which still has three episodes to go, have been building out something going on further with that. That series is some thirty years in the past to Mandalorian of course but there's a conceptual throughline.

It's pretty clear that's what's underpinning things!

I actually really liked this episode and how off course it went! Though I definitely not expect to see an episode about how The New Republic's very communist dystopia is only slightly better, but mostly the same, as the Empire's peak era in Andor.

It kinda fits in with that comment in the first episode from Carl Weathers about not wanting to be under New Republic control either. (Add in the long term stuff about how Leia has to kinda fund the Resistance on her own or whatever she ended up doing -- basically, 'winning' is messy and uneven even at the best of times.)

Caught that Bad Batch resonance too.

Funny watching this latest episode at the same time as episode 3 of Last of Us, where they both start with the main characters, shift to a verrrry long unrelated story, then go back to the main characters at the end. The difference being that Last of Us connected the middle story back to the main characters and in Mando I have no clue why it was included yet. (Possibly just payback for Mando hijacking two episodes of Boba Fett.)

Coupled with the "Mandalore was poisoned was a lie to keep us away" bit, I guess the implication could be there's an Empire base somewhere on the planet?

That's an interesting idea. Maybe just in the Mandalore System and not necessarily Mandalore itself.

Fun stuff this season - fx stuff has been excellent - but the lack of a villain makes these episodes feel like a whole lot of “ world building ” (yuck) and not much else.

Whereas I love a bit of world building and hadn’t even registered there wasn’t a villain
