I think once your tweet goes beyond 280 characters you should lose the ability to punctuate or insert line breaks. If you're gonna type 4000 characters it's gonna appear in a solid block of text.

I kept jokingly telling people on Twitter not to mention the third-party apps to Elon because I honestly think he didn’t understand they exist! This might be what happens when someone finally explained to him that they do :(

Tweetdeck still seems to work thank goodness (and my timeline on the iOS client remains chronological.)

I’m still locked out on Tweetbot. The convulsions have stopped but I still have a terrible headache.

People are being negative about 'following' but isn't that how twitter should work?

Some things about Twitter haven't changed. A local news story here has gone mildly viral, due to bad actions by our local sheriff's department. A post about it by Radley Balko made it look like it was actually the city police department. As somebody who has covered this story from day 1, I replied with a slight correction that it was the sheriff's department. And for the last four days I've been responding to people who think that somehow directing their rage in the right direction amounts to loving cops.

I’m not twitter person- like i didn’t really know about tweetdeck 3p apps and shit, but i’m still surprised there isn’t some kind of alt medium better than mastodon or whatev. is that like just not gonna happen or ?

its hard to get people to switch it might even be impossible what you need is something that people want to use on its own merits not because its a replacement, you start with a small group of early users having fun fucking around developing the language of the app so to speak and eventually more people are attracted to that situation, also all the attempted twitter replacements have exactly the wrong idea theyre trying to make an elevated serious nice twitter but whats good about twitter is that its funny messy weird etc

prob more likely that twitter dies on its own than having its users stolen by a replacement

does tweetdelete still work? I rely on that to erase my stupid tweets weekly
