the stadium chairs in the first pic do have the colours of the German flag, if that is something we should use as a clue...

StanM, Saturday, 7 January 2023 00:27 (three years ago)

There are an awful lot of green domed buildings in Germany - but I can't find this one.

Could this possibly be one of the lakes near Berlin?

Zelda Zonk, Saturday, 7 January 2023 00:47 (three years ago)

could be anywhere in Eastern Europe - even parts of Scandinavia maybe. Still no real ideas here :(

StanM, Saturday, 7 January 2023 13:59 (three years ago)

can we get a street view

micah, Wednesday, 11 January 2023 04:48 (three years ago)

That's certainly a very green city. What are those six white tower structures in the middle ?

Nabozo, Wednesday, 11 January 2023 08:35 (three years ago)

my searches for 'radio telescope' didn't turn up anything appropriate

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Saturday, 21 January 2023 09:35 (three years ago)

I googled German tram stop and it was very close, then Polish tram stop and they have this blue sign.

Nabozo, Saturday, 21 January 2023 16:08 (three years ago)

I googled foetus in heart and it found the right picture but it's a stock illustration.

ledge, Saturday, 21 January 2023 16:42 (three years ago)

probably just a matter of finding that "black with green stripe and station name" tram stop enclosure. ive checked a bunch of central/eastern europe cities but havent found it yet, theres too many with trams

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 January 2023 18:01 (three years ago)

actually this looks more like a wider gauge "light rail" than a "tram"

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 January 2023 18:03 (three years ago)

but maybe they're called the same thing in europe

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 January 2023 18:03 (three years ago)

we’re in Poznań!

this is the second view:

the six white towers are part of a speedway stadium:

that would be the speedway stadium, I guess - the first one is an athletics/track & field place

oh whoops lol must have checked every other major polish city besides that one

here’s the third view with the tram stop:

oh wait i see what happened, those tram enclosures are new and only in 2021 footage i was looking at 2019 footage

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 January 2023 19:47 (three years ago)

that pretty distinct looking white/mint green domed building in the second view is the Church of St. John Vianney:

nice one! I was still in Germany :-(

StanM, Saturday, 21 January 2023 21:18 (three years ago)

Well done!

ledge, Saturday, 21 January 2023 21:24 (three years ago)

Glad that ones gone, found it difficult to pick a suitable streetview

The Golecin stadium has some interesting architecture

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Sunday, 22 January 2023 12:56 (three years ago)

Look, and then guess

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Thursday, 26 January 2023 05:03 (three years ago)

Not much to go on! Romanesque architecture by the looks of it, possibly a castle, but could be just about anywhere in Western or Middle Europe

Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 26 January 2023 05:37 (three years ago)

it's looking mildly shocked

StanM, Thursday, 26 January 2023 06:16 (three years ago)

Looks pretty old and tall and like a thick defense structure that was maybe converted in a residence. Given the color of the stone, I'd guess Southern part of Europe.

Nabozo, Thursday, 26 January 2023 08:59 (three years ago)

I would guess north italy

nxd, Thursday, 26 January 2023 14:11 (three years ago)

round arches = old
thick walls = old
bricks not irregularly shaped rocks = not as old
+/- modern windows = still lived in?

StanM, Thursday, 26 January 2023 16:53 (three years ago)

possible that the wall was built earlier, and the gun ports were installed later in life before a final conversion to windows

micah, Friday, 27 January 2023 03:34 (three years ago)

possible that the wall was built earlier, and the gun ports were MS-DOS was installed later in life before a final conversion to windows

assert (matttkkkk), Friday, 27 January 2023 06:49 (three years ago)

with all the repairs, that wall could have been pirated in the past

Many people are saying the first view didn't have much to go on

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Saturday, 28 January 2023 18:32 (three years ago)

getting Eastern Europe vibes, but I don't know why exactly (could be the South of France just as easily)

StanM, Sunday, 29 January 2023 08:20 (three years ago)

Great t-shirt game from the dad there

I guess the second pic may have had buildings that one could recognise if they already knew them but this is going back to "not a single thing to go on" territory I'm afraid :(

StanM, Monday, 20 February 2023 10:08 (three years ago)

How common are 5/6-lamp light poles? Also, the bus shelter on the left has an ad for something featuring a man, and on the right there is some kind of sign, if those particular graphics ring any bells.

nickn, Monday, 20 February 2023 22:21 (three years ago)

could the sign be a coat of arms? hard to be sure in this resolution.

btw, what do you mean by 5/6-lamp poles? am I missing something?

The "spider"-looking light left of center, one post but 5 or 6 arms with lights on it.

nickn, Monday, 20 February 2023 22:44 (three years ago)

oh, you’re right - was focusing on the ones on either side of the picture. might be a lead.

I'm pretty sure that's a sculpture in the middle of the roundabout but I've had no luck searching

assert (matttkkkk), Tuesday, 21 February 2023 00:04 (three years ago)

I've been to Tallinn 3 times for work and I felt like this looked almost too Soviet to be Estonian but I think I found it, and I think it's Narva.

wow!

StanM, Tuesday, 21 February 2023 07:26 (three years ago)

'twas a long walk along the river, but here's the second view

let us now celebrate ama ‘piano’ smith & the clowns (breastcrawl), Tuesday, 21 February 2023 16:14 (three years ago)

I had never heard of Narva before - I am not proud of this fact - but the Today Programme on Radio 4 had a feature from there this morning. IS that a weird coincidence or is Cherry Blossom making the news as well as the GTC thread?

Tim, Tuesday, 21 February 2023 17:15 (three years ago)

I've been to Tallinn 3 times for work and I felt like this looked almost too Soviet to be Estonian but I think I found it, and I think it's Narva.

Good work, Narva it is!

Pretty desolate looking place, aside from the main tourist attraction of the castle. And Russia on the other side of the river

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 22 February 2023 02:08 (three years ago)

Narva feels like a city for cars, but without many cars
