why isn't this something that is persisted along with other user settings in the user's profile record in the db?

i think the official story is because it's something people set differently based on which client they're on.

the real story is probably that users on the home timeline use the site more, which drives revenue, and "force timeline to home once per login" turns out to be the right revenue compromise between getting people to switch to home timeline without pissing off vehement latest timeline users so much they quit.

Tate is fucking horrible and has also inspired a wave of red pill influencer types in the last year.

I have a 10 year old nephew who is into Andrew Tate. he is a really sweet boy though and likely only really understands some of the fast car stuff. his Mom has no idea who that is. but he's absolutely not someone I would want him watching because that age is prime time for bad ideas about women forming in your head.
