Neptune was once interesting, now it's a non-factor. Out of college, class distinctions no longer seem to exist for Veronica.

How is Neptune a factor? The show is now 99.9999% Hearst College (itself devoid of personality), the secondary characters caricatures (Piz, the feminists) with no relation to the town. What makes New Nepune different, how is it a factor (ie why couldn't it be set in any unnamed wealthy beachfront locale?)

First of all, it's not New Neptune. it's still just Neptune. Secondly, the O'Dells and Logan and Dick and Madison still live in swanky places and get their kids out of jams with the law (and rape people like that one dude), and the Mars and Weevil and Wallace (the scholarship thing, which never would have happened but whatever) do not.

I actually think the "rich vs. poor" thing is an oversimplified way to see Neptune -- now we get all the college vs. town stuff, Lamb having to suck up to some college people but loving to bust college students, the way others look at Veronica for being a commuter student, etc.

Cousin Larry I think there is a show you would like, it is called Kiss My Ass.

Personally, I thought the second season (okay, mainly the Big Arc) was a shambles. This one is just about the same for me. I don't get excited about watching it, but I generally enjoy doing so when I get around to it.

yeah, my patience for the show was tested a lot more toward the end of the 2nd season with the pregnant girl in a coma and Duncan running off with the baby, etc. this season has been pretty reliable by comparison, i think. KB definitely keeps it watchable during the weaker plotlines. I saw her on I think Conan once and she definitely comes across as completely different from her character, different voice, different mannerisms.

KB is airier, more flighty. Strange, VM is to me a realer person to me, but then I see her more often than KB nowadays.

I had that same feeling when I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar on a talk show for the first time, after watching Buffy for awhile.

According to network insiders, the CW has not officially canceled Veronica Mars. However, they are currently considering a different format for the fourth season. That format would leap four years into the future and focus on Veronica Mars as an FBI agent. The rest of the cast, aside from Kristen Bell, is yet to be determined.

So bottom line: Veronica Mars could be: 1) spinning off into a new format, 2) returning in her college years or 3) getting canceled

ok except and then veronica's agency turns out to be a fake agency that's really evil and then like there's a real agency too and it turns out that who's running it but her *father* and also logan except she doesn't know if he's a double agent or not and meanwhile she's in the evil agency still but really starts reporting to the good one?

that would be awesome, for like a season or two. then they could have a new concept!

Well, that's interesting. I felt like the show was a lot better in the last three episodes, but I doubt that they would have been able to do a good fourth season in college.

I've finally caught up w/ the show. Sad to read that the rest of the season will be standalone episodes not involving a final arc.

Most likely I'm just naive, but it always seems like they never actually drop clues or hints or implications as to who the "culprit" of an arc is until the final episode (Aaron Echolls, Beaver Casablancas, Tim Whats-his-face, etc.). Am I mistaken? Someone please prove me wrong.

There do seem to be clues, but there are always clues for loads of other people too. And a lot of the clues for the real culprit seem to be circumstantial and you wouldn't guess anything from them.

Last night was 'meh', but it had almost all the main actors, so I enjoyed it. The muslim/terrorist thing was ham-fisted, tho, and whilst i don't give a rat's ass about veronica and piz, the ending was pretty good.

Last night was good on several levels:

A) Veronica's excellent Samuel L. Jackson impression;
B) Mack's surprising-yet-appropriate couch encounter;
C) A very realistic, I think, interaction between Keith and Veronica in re: the latter's "harmless" hobby
D) Seeds sown for tension in Neptune's sheriff's office, good noir stuff
E) Dick's open fly in the elevator ("classic party tactic")
F) Great ending

I am going to pretend the show ended after the last episode, because this one was so crappy I almost cried. So much bad acting, and the theme of it all, and the dialogue, and... Jesus, Rob Thomas, what did you DO! It's turned into a bad after-school special.

And then I probably love this show more than most, I've stood by it through highs and lows, but this... was just... I give up.

Seriously, have you seen other television shows? Their dialogue, scenarios, acting, filming, and general and specific plotlines are just about all worse than "Veronica Mars." There's no point loving a show's past so much that you cannot stand to watch it anymore -- it's free entertainment, and even if it is one billion million kazillion times worse than it was back in the golden halcyon days of its past (what, like seasons one and two were perfect all the way through and never had stupid stuff in them? uh, NO), it's still a really good show.

But you have a right to your opinion. I just don't see the need for all the DAMMIT ROB THOMAS I UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT TELEVISION AND THIS SHOW THAN YOU DO, YOU BASTARD handwringing.

Matt! Stay where you are! You're absolutely OTM.

The sense of entitlement when it comes to nerds and TV is what's underpinning this divide, and the disenfranchisement of certain segments of the show's audience is manifested by pooping in threads to spoil them/the show for other people who still dig. God knows how I tried the same in <i>Lost</i> threads in the past, but c'mon, I eventually took my poo-slinging to other venues where nobody hears me complain.

Last I watched, this was still one of the best shows on the telly, however it relates to past seasons.

Haha, the shows you love the most are the ones you get you the most disappointed and emotional, right? That's all part of fandom. I just thought it was so silly, this past ep, that scene where V fell in slow motion, the righteousness and morale of the storylines, blah blah teens drinking, jews and arabs can be friends, it was all so simplified and non-reflective. I kind of expect the next one to be about teen pregnancy, and the one after that about bullying. But I'll keep watching, I still have love for VM.

Okay that's fair enough methinks. I just tend to focus on the stuff I like rather than the stuff I hate, and the heavy-handed stuff falls away. By the way, nowhere did it say that Jews and Arabs can be friends -- only that they can have sex. The father was shown to be pretty damn intolerant!

Yeah, I got a case of the not-in-a-good-way loffles; it was really something I'd expect from Heroes or somesuch.
And while the A-plot was really stupid and unnecessary, Matt's right: If you rilly love the show fer shure, then you focus on the positive, like the bday party teen melodrama. Mac and Max squee!!

Also, I love Dick. As long as the show features Dick, this boy will have a gay old time. Mm, Dick.

Piz can still suck it though.
