how can they be so completely incapable of finishing?

Lukaku is injured atm

probably wondering if they’ll get fucked out of the tournament before he’s back
this Canada squad is fairly legit (by CONCACAF standards), not the pushoversthey used to be. somewhat ridiculous that the Sockeroos are ranked above them in FIFA rankings.
that being said, they are full of Major League Soccer players and so i expect Belgium will eventually take control of this one. but impressive start for them.

wrong pass Du Bruyne
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:19 (three years ago)
That was a shit pass. At least Belgium are breathing.

I remember saying at some point during concacaf qualifying that this nu-look Canada remind me of the USA teams of the 00s where they had a handful of quality players but mostly relied on persistence, athleticism, etc. (Of course it is debatable that the USA team is still reliant on those traits.)

yeah US still hasn't quite escaped that yet, but they're more technical and probably have the highest pedigree of players they've had in a minute. whether that eventually translates into a team that can win games at the WC, we'll see.
otm - Canada is kind of a 'heart and hustle' team.
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:24 (three years ago)
Canada full of ex-Orlando City players, Richie Laryea, Cyle Larin, Kamal Miller. I will lol at any mistake any of them make.
(we wasted Richie tbf)
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:25 (three years ago)
Belgium are all over the place
― Oh wouldn't it be rubbery? (Tom D.), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:30 (three years ago)
soon might be the moment where they "find out"
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:31 (three years ago)
yeah this is fun
― nashwan, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:31 (three years ago)
lol just babbled out nonsense sounds at that last Canada move
― nashwan, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:32 (three years ago)
i don't know if Belgium are toying with Canada or what, I mean, Canada's build-up play is workmanlike but they're very top-heavy in talent, you could easily force turnovers by pressuring some of the lesser players. Belgium seems to want to just score off of counter-attacks from midfield turnovers, which...is what you would have expected Canada to do in this match.
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:35 (three years ago)
there's the CONCACAF shithousery
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:39 (three years ago)
I woulda broke the tv if they gave that as a pen
Oh there it is.
― Oh wouldn't it be rubbery? (Tom D.), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:44 (three years ago)
gutting for Canada to get that close to halftime at 0-0
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:44 (three years ago)
Kamal Miller such a shit defender.
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:45 (three years ago)
Lol I mean..
― xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:45 (three years ago)
Canada so should be 1-1 or two up.
― xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:49 (three years ago)
another way they will be like the US, in that the US bottled several wide-open opportunities against Belgium in 2014 (unlike Canada, though, Belgiium were battering them with shots, hence Howard's save record).
Belgium look shit
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 19:51 (three years ago)
That was awful from David
― crisp, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:09 (three years ago)
hey everyone, did you know if Canada scores, it's their first ever World Cup goal?
think it bears repeating another 20 or 30 times

Thanks for the news I can use!

predicting 2 goals in the 23 minutes of stoppage
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:35 (three years ago)
ffs are Canada scared of scoring or something?
― Oh wouldn't it be rubbery? (Tom D.), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:37 (three years ago)
out of the players I hadn't seen play before in this world cup the Canada #7 has been the standout( with the exception of set play delivery). He's been a delight.
― oscar bravo, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:39 (three years ago)
Belgian passing is woeful.
― Oh wouldn't it be rubbery? (Tom D.), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:40 (three years ago)
They'll get away with it because Canadian finishing is dogshit
― xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:42 (three years ago)
also from earlier today hansi flick has absolutely no business playing sule at rb, goretzka should be in mf, and ter stegen should be in goal.
― oscar bravo, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:47 (three years ago)
and Larin is in and he's a poacher of sorts but his hold-up play sucks and he has lazy spells
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:47 (three years ago)

lol @ Trossard
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:48 (three years ago)
21 shots, 3 on frame....should tell you the quality of the shots right there
The two upsets we've had never looked like one till they happened. Guess what I saw 10 mins in was too good to be true.
― xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:50 (three years ago)
also for once graeme souness wasn't exaggerating when he said that he could have come down from the studio and played the busquets role for Spain today such was the lack of energy and closing from costa rica
― oscar bravo, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:50 (three years ago)
why are Canada fans cheerng this corner, hve they seen their past corners?
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:50 (three years ago)
lol case in point
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:51 (three years ago)
only 5 minutes!
most of Canada's shots have been unlikely from an xg pov. 4 real chances - pen, David when he should have played the square pass, David header ,and the low cross chance just before half time.
― oscar bravo, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:52 (three years ago)
letting Belgium have maximum possession with little attempt to pressure them seems like a good strategy with 2 minutes left
― Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 20:54 (three years ago)
Can’t imagine Croatia will let Canada play like that, shame they couldn’t get anything tonight.
