Humalog is now $400. We can do this whenever we want and there's nothing you can do about it. Suck it. Our official Twitter account is @LiIlyPadCo." Amid replies, the account responded, "$500 now. You want to keep going?" The account has since been suspended.

Eli Lilly lost billions in its stock valuation, probably on a very temporary basis. The real losses weren't to the company, but to all the stockholders who panic-sold at far below the market price prior to the tweet. Some of those will be very large pension funds, hedge funds and mutual funds, who will be pissed off as hell.

i mean they have been sued for this before, im not a lawyer but i dont think 230 allows for wanton negligence, and even if it did they could still get sued

(also NAL): the blue check is provided/published by twitter itself not a third party, so 230 might not help them if the argument is that the verification service is the root cause not the tweet's content
