It’s only been a week but I feel like I was way off in my prediction that someone will surely acquire Twitter. It’s unreal how fast my Twitter timeline has devolved into crypto scam bullshit (even outside of this week’s crypto news).

I’m surprised they didn’t get fired already but this is bad for users. Mudge’s replacement and by all accounts much better at the job.
I've made the hard decision to leave Twitter. I've had the opportunity to work with amazing people and I'm so proud of the privacy, security, and IT teams and the work we've done.I'm looking forward to figuring out what's next, starting with my reviews for @USENIXSecurity 😁— Lea Kissner (@LeaKissner) November 10, 2022

Good luck with that consent decree. Elon may not care, but senior employees are personally liable IIUC.
According to messages shared in Twitter Slack, Twitter’s CISO, chief privacy office, and chief compliance officer all resigned last night. An employee says it will be up to engineers to “self-certify compliance with FTC requirements and other laws.”— Casey Newton (@CaseyNewton) November 10, 2022

i'm mad that he already used his "hey i just like to try a million things and most of them fail, that's normal and we just move toward the things that did work" excuse because that's totally my excuse. he's ruined it for the little guy

3/ sounds fun.
1.) He reverses course & Twitter returns to something resembling what it looked like in Summer 2022.or2.) Infrastructure decay & active user flight spiral the company towards bankruptcy & obsolescence.Unfortunately, I think there is a door #3.2/8— Matt Seybold (@MEASeybold) November 9, 2022

This guy knows what’s up
This is a really big deal. Twitter made huge strides towards a more rational internal security model and backsliding will put them in trouble with the FTC, SEC, 27 EU DPAs and a variety of other regulators. There is a serious risk of a breach with drastically reduced staff. https://t.co/2VxOC6d6lY— Alex Stamos (@alexstamos) November 10, 2022

Mlxp - maybe I'm too optimistic, but I kinda feel like option 2 is baked in at this point, b/w all the layoffs/resignations and PR hits twitter has been taking. Just yesterday, the 70 yr Bahamian security guard I work with who's never been on social media in his life was ranting about how pathetic and dangerous Elon is.

Holy shit, Alex Spiro was Aaron Hernandez's defense attorney
In the same message, the employee said Twitter’s current head of Legal, Alex Spiro, said “Elon is willing to take on a huge amount of risk in relation to his company and its users, because ‘Elon puts rockets into space, he’s not afraid of the FTC.’”— Casey Newton (@CaseyNewton) November 10, 2022

Strong statement from FTC, following the security and privacy departures at Twitter: "We are tracking recent developments at Twitter with deep concern. No CEO or company is above the law, and companies must follow our consent decrees."— Cat Zakrzewski (@Cat_Zakrzewski) November 10, 2022

it should be noted that any sentence that includes the words "how are you going to..." and "...align everyone on a shared vision?" was actually a big slow softball question
