I remember reading somewhere that he was considered as Bon Scott's replacement in AC/DC before they chose Brian Johnson. That would have been amazing.

but also fuck you (unperson), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 23:37 (three years ago)

read that as Boris Johnson

A friend of mine hated Nazareth because he grew up listening to the Hair of the Dog 45 at 33 1/3 and was extremely mad when he heard it at proper speed for the first time.

rip to an icon

Kevin Conroy, who’s most well known as the iconic voice behind Batman in BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, has sadly passed away at the age of 66…

An utter legend.

RIP Gallagher. Really famous for some reason. Turned into an insane right wing crank. Friend on facebook posted this wonderful memory:

"I saw Gallagher live once. Ticket sales had been so low that the promoter turned it into a "bringer show" lining up a few opening comedians who could guarantee they'd bring a certain number of people. Gallagher was pretty pissed about it so he stood by the side of the stage and derailed their acts by interrupting them with critiques on their jokes.
Once on stage he angrily berated a couple for ordering drinks from their server too loud and demanded they leave. After that it was a full on meltdown. He whined about how he deserved more success and how unfair it was that he was never giving a late night talk show like other comedians got. These weren't bits this was just rage complaining. Eventually he started complaining about everything in his life yelling at the audience "My family doesn't even speak to me!!!" The whole scene was upsetting. Finally he regained some composure then brought up audience members to smash watermelons.
Overall, he seemed like a bitter, spiteful, entitled person full of offensive comments and resentment so... RIP?"

dan selzer, Friday, 11 November 2022 16:37 (three years ago)

RIP gallagher (?)

he sure did destroy a lot of watermelons. i wonder if he had any superfans that kept the tarp after the show and brought it home

Karl Malone, Friday, 11 November 2022 16:40 (three years ago)

he was funny insofar as his terribleness was fun to laugh at, even that lost its appeal over the last 20+ years

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Friday, 11 November 2022 16:52 (three years ago)

there was some crazy this with his brother too. I'm too lazy to google it right now.

dan selzer, Friday, 11 November 2022 17:08 (three years ago)

I had no watermelon juice from him, but RIP anyway.

Yeah Joel famously loathed him in real life, considered him a hack and joke-stealer.

My favorite, utter destruction of Gallagher remains this piece, originally from 1999:

Ned Raggett, Friday, 11 November 2022 17:13 (three years ago)

he gave joel shit for being a prop comic iirc

wow, had no idea. yikes.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 11 November 2022 17:59 (three years ago)

We owe him. "Dave Letterman ain't comin' here. Robin Williams ain't comin' out here. You gotta say, you know, Gallagher came here, and he did two hours."

This is basically the first Trump campaign (and every subsequent Trump campaign).

It is with great sadness I report that my close friend and legendary Public Image Limited guitarist Keith Levene passed away on Friday 11th November.

There is no doubt that Keith was one of the most innovative, audacious and influential guitarists of all time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehran_Karimi_Nasseri , the Iranian refugee who lived in the Charles De Gaulle airport's Terminal 1 in Paris for 18 years, died today. (The Terminal, with Tom Hanks, was based on his story)

(not quite sure on what happened but that 18 years was 1988->2006 , yet he died at the airport - was he living there again? - https://newsinfrance.com/mehran-karimi-nasseri-the-refugee-from-roissy-who-inspired-steven-spielbergs-the-terminal-died-in-the-airport/ )
