RIP Oli Frey, Pretty incredible that he had a gay erotica comic career running in parallel with inking super macho computer game magazine covers, given the casual playground homophobia of the 80’s.

I can vaguely remember a feature on Rob Hubbard in Zzapp! 64 that contained homophobic attempts at humour about the gay characters in "Eastbenders", the sort of shit Gary Bushell would have come out with. I had no idea about Oli's other career in gay erotica!

This hit me hard, and I’m not even a huge fan, but they had a unique voice and was gonna be an artist who was going to be interesting to watch.

And already was interesting to watch, I should clarify

I got into Fly or Die a few years ago, but had really been into this year's Anteloper album. Still having trouble wrapping my brain around this.

Three of my favorite moments at Big Ears this year revolved around Jaimie Branch — her set with Fly or Die, which was fierce and fiery and fun; then she and the band backed up Alabaster DePlume; and then while I was watching Lonnie Holley she came and sat right in front of me, trailing plumes of weed and tobacco, she was super into the set. R.I.P. to a great player.

I just started listening to the new Anteloper just a couple days ago and was thinking about how much fun and far out it is. This sucks.
