guess

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Thursday, 21 July 2022 13:50 (three years ago)

Warrington, UK - looking towards Fiddlers Ferry Power Station (which has 8 towers but is the first google images result if you look for power station "7 towers" :-) )

https://www.google.be/maps/@53.3828828,-2.6086605,3a,75y,12.14h,83.03t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipNQQlG1nwnjXj3TE2hbPXnOjvuWuOUGUbeQ9dch!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNQQlG1nwnjXj3TE2hbPXnOjvuWuOUGUbeQ9dch%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya60.99318-ro-0-fo100!7i5734!8i2867

StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 14:32 (three years ago)

How'd you find it so quick?

nickn, Thursday, 21 July 2022 16:18 (three years ago)

I told you: I googled "power station "7 towers" " and the first result looked VERY suspiciously correct + the hills in the distance did too

StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 17:05 (three years ago)

first result in Images

StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 17:05 (three years ago)

and then the first aerial picture already looked like it was the right direction

https://www.google.be/maps/@53.3742371,-2.6680439,3a,75y,38.96h,86.71t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipPUHszeH6erpADiR2Jk4tSuQ8ISZxIOml_Tjokg!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipPUHszeH6erpADiR2Jk4tSuQ8ISZxIOml_Tjokg%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya38.014175-ro-0-fo100!7i8192!8i4096

so we need to be further back + two bridges near each other: and that was it. Lucky :-)

StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 17:09 (three years ago)

I'd recognise Fiddler's Ferry in a heartbeat, Granadaland icon

ignore the blue line (or something), Thursday, 21 July 2022 17:57 (three years ago)

Bit too obvious a landmark that one eh? I was going to do it pointing in the opposite direction originally

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Thursday, 21 July 2022 18:17 (three years ago)

I only found it via that google search, wasn't familiar with it

StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 18:33 (three years ago)

Oops, just skimmed your answer.

nickn, Thursday, 21 July 2022 20:33 (three years ago)

StanM, Friday, 22 July 2022 05:29 (three years ago)

Why not set one yourself?

dear confusion the catastrophe waitress (ledge), Friday, 22 July 2022 08:14 (three years ago)

i'm not that talented imho

StanM, Friday, 22 July 2022 08:29 (three years ago)

Ok. Newb attempt. Possibly ridiculously easy or difficult.

micah, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 03:10 (three years ago)

My wild guess would be Oregon or somewhere northwest. There's a tree on the right that has red flowers, which might be a clue if identified

Zelda Zonk, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 03:42 (three years ago)

Thanks for fixing my newb flaws, Micah.

horizontal, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 03:42 (three years ago)

NW seems a good initial candidate. It looks to be at the base of a hill...or part way down one

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 04:55 (three years ago)

Pennsylvania plate?

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:00 (three years ago)

The license plate on the truck might be Utah, which probably means they just moved from Utah, and this is a completely useless clue.

Hideous Lump, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:03 (three years ago)

Yeah, the plate itself doesn't really matter (its not PA anyway, top and bottom band take up too much space)

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:16 (three years ago)

It looks pretty steep, from the trees and need for such a wooden structure to access the house, but you can't see much in the distance. Some humid northern climate.

Nabozo, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:35 (three years ago)

That truck looks like a work truck (tool boxes, spray cans) rather than a moving truck.

The cars seems a bit older than I would expect in a middle class city area, so maybe outside a city in a rural area. Also, the houses are pretty modest for a "view" area.

Could be the hilly south too (Appalachia).

nickn, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 06:39 (three years ago)

looks like the "back" of those houses--wonder what they are all facing? does look like a steep drop off

a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:10 (three years ago)

Pittsburgh somewhere??? That looks like a Penna plate

a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:11 (three years ago)

Definitely looks like a steep drop, hillside of some sort

That looks like a Penna plate

Aren't the bands wrong though? The blue and yellow look too thick, take up too much space

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:38 (three years ago)

yeah you're right--those are also white letters which at a quick glance it looks like PA has blue letters

a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 13:11 (three years ago)

but it looks like maybe no states have white letters?

a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 13:12 (three years ago)

poking around Mt Washington areas of Pittsburgh and I feel like I'm close

a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 14:47 (three years ago)

Those houses don't look emotional enough to be Pittsburgh houses

Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 15:00 (three years ago)

trees and smoky air look wast coast to me?

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 16:29 (three years ago)

I have more helpful pictures when you are ready. It seems google did the neighborhood on very different days.

horizontal, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 21:23 (three years ago)

AFAIK, Pennsylvania is the only state to use that color scheme in its license plates.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 21:32 (three years ago)

Those roofs are weird looking.

Look closely, that is all. (doo dah), Thursday, 28 July 2022 01:28 (three years ago)

Agree that the houses/cars look a bit basic and give the impression it's not a particularly well off area.

Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 28 July 2022 02:20 (three years ago)

I'm not convinced it's even in the US.

Hideous Lump, Thursday, 28 July 2022 04:17 (three years ago)

I thought the trees might help but if you're high up a mountain that could be harder again. The not-too-modern feel of it all is making me think Costa Rica maybe? no idea though

StanM, Thursday, 28 July 2022 06:18 (three years ago)

Puerto, not Costa

StanM, Thursday, 28 July 2022 06:19 (three years ago)

Never been to Puerto Rico but not really getting a Caribbean island vibe from that pic. Still thinking it's somewhere a bit cold and damp in mainland USA

Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 28 July 2022 12:12 (three years ago)

I can see clearly now the rain is gone,
I can see all the obstacles in my way,
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind…

404 error. LOL. This is the quality I bring people. Try again.

horizontal, Thursday, 28 July 2022 14:47 (three years ago)

yeah, no longer thinking Puerto Rico now. Canada/North America yes

StanM, Thursday, 28 July 2022 15:43 (three years ago)

Somewhere near a lake, I see two boats.

nickn, Thursday, 28 July 2022 16:01 (three years ago)

Somewhere in Alaska maybe.

Look closely, that is all. (doo dah), Thursday, 28 July 2022 16:08 (three years ago)

looks like a lake or river in the distance in shot 2?
