Ugh , unless Durbin as the whip has been told that not all Senate Dems are on board. If that’s the case we should know who they are. Of course Dem leadership will tell us the solution is to “Elect! More! Dems!”

this window is going to be gone for who knows how long.so many missed opportunities.since the financial crisis of 2008 we had extremely low inflation and essentially zero percent interest rates and did we get any truly transformative spending projects? did we fuck. that was the time for something on the scale of building the interstate highway system. it’s gone now.

oh shit, the Trump nuts have discovered the incredible power of 'mathematics':
Failed far-right Nevada Republican gubernatorial candidate Joey Gilbert filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn his primary defeat, citing an "analysis" that found his loss to be a "mathematical impossibility" even after a recount he requested confirmed the results.
Once the results are "statistically corrected," said a copy of the complaint obtained by The Nevada Independent, will show "with irrefutable geometric finality" that Gilbert won by more than 55,000 votes.
The "expert mathematician" cited by Gilbert is infamous election conspiracy theorist Edward Solomon, who falsely claimed to have found evidence that the 2020 presidential election was rigged using an algorithm...
geometry, statistics! All that shit, we got all that shit

Yeah, this morning I saw an article somewhere about Maryland's Republican primary, where the Trump-blessed candidate won and was described as the "Democratic-favored" candidate and that gave me a really bad feeling.
― peace, man, Thursday, 21 July 2022 12:39 (three years ago)
I agree whole thing is reckless and stupid.
But Maryland is one of the few places I think it could work: the state over all is pretty liberal. Hogan only held on by not being a crazypants. But the red voters there are very red, having gone full MAGA. A candidate palatable to them will probably not be palatable statewide.
That said, Democrats could (and should have) just let the MAGAnauts hang themselves in MD without spending a penny.
Waldman here argues that it's unlikely that Dem spending tipped that race. The Republican primary was going to be a Trumpfest no matter what:
Republican voters don’t need to be fooled into picking candidates who present a profound threat to American democracy. They’re doing it all on their own.
