I could have been clearer there. What I meant was it seems unlikely that Gus would go to take down Lalo himself rather than just send his goons to do it. I know he had plenty of said goons with him but still

Saw someone point out that in BB S5E1 Hank and Gomez say they found two unidentified bodies under the lab, man the writing on this show is crazy

Lalo shooting all 4 of Gus's men so easily was pretty ridiculous. Almost like we're meant to think it was darker than it was shown on screen.

Was that not the two guys who were guarding Jesse that Walt shoots in the finale of Season 4? xp

Over-flattering description. I think the acting and especially the photography and direction are so superior to the script, which is entertaining hokum but not great.

they gave him a series regular contract, so i think he appears in the credits of every episode

Still think the final meet-up and especially shoot-out in the dark(Gus got very lucky indeed, unless he's been practicing in the dark quite a bit, but even Lalo got lucky, in what was almost as dark on my screen) were hokey, but I know sometimes writers just gotta gotta get from A to Z, even if there's a bit of scribble in between (how did Walt get the ricin into Lydia's stevia packets?) It's okay, though; we're still zooming to z, and now no more "suspense" about the damn lab of ages, I hope.

I know it was a necessary mcguffin for Lalo, and I always wanted more Lalo, but geez I got tired of seeing Gus standing around looking worried---enjoyed the character much more in BB.

Although I guess he and Mike handled Lalo as well as they could, as most anyone could (wonder what Walt would do)(still waiting for him and Jesse and Carol Burnett, re press bit I pasted recently).

That didn't seem that difficult for someone like Walt. Lydia was very much a creature of habit (think Walt even remarks something about her being "schedule oriented") so doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility for Walt to have sealed the doctored packet at home and slipped it into the box of condiments on the table Lydia always sat at before she arrives.

Yeah I think it’s pretty easy to supply the character doing diy montage™️ in your imagination there and (as with the brock thing ppl go nuts about it) they could have shown it but giving the game away would have taken from the reveal

This entire show messed up the Gus character. He was so much more compelling as the tidy unassuming businessman that drives a station wagon and makes all decisions in a cold businessman like way, which includes murdering an employee in front of the others to make a point, with the attitude of a corporate professional. In BCS he’s wearing dark suits with slicked back hair and getting driven around in black SUVs and scowling... just another cliche crime lord.

Agree with that. You'd expect the character to make the transition in the opposite direction...anyway, much more interesting in Breaking Bad.

Lalo being talked into a thing means that thing isn't important to him. So, what is important to him? Gotta be the lab. I agree it takes some squinting to make it look not-silly.

It's the whole Lalo-vs-Gus chess thing. If it doesn't matter which piece you've moved to make your play, then that move is probably part of something else and not relevant in itself
