Tom D's post makes sense though I am in the UK and don't watch news on TV anymore so don't get the exposure. I think that's a plus for twitter where I get a sense of all the actual crises while keeping fluff like this to a minimum.

Glastonbury.

I have positive thoughts for Glastonbury itself - I just can’t abide the media coverage (newspapers not tv).

TV coverage is unbearable and there's far too much of it.

... not talking about the event itself but the preamble to it.

The TV coverage has been bad since it moved to the BBC from Channel 4.

(Makes mental note to make sure I’m doing something on Saturday evening, so I’m not reducing to the dire fate of watching other people sing along to Hey Jude)

I'd rather watch live footage of a cholera outbreak, but that does put me way outside "the things you don't care about" remit! But the idea of being in a field with 200000 people makes me feel physically ill. My brother went once and came back boasting that he spent an hour chatting with Timothy Mallett at a bar there, imagine boasting about that.

On twitter my timeline is so good I only ever heard about this 80 year old playing a festival as it was happening and only a couple of people were bothered about it.

Slightly interesting that Dave Grohl seems to be much more newsworthy than Bruce Springsteen in the coverage of this world shattering event. Bruce is only mentioned as an afterthought.

Grohl has probably had more hits than Bruce in the UK.
