Guess the City

I love how difficult this is. None of these towers contain big names/logo/signs, does that mean we're somewhere non-capitalistic?

Guessing China or South America, betting the former

Woah, that's one hellishly large (and mostly recently built) city. The mountains in the distance give me a bit of a South American vibe, but there aren't many cities there that could be that big - maybe Sao Paulo. If it's not that, then I'm guessing somewhere in China.

Can't see any similar mountains in Sao Paulo aerial shots so I don't think it's that.

To the right there are some lower rise Soviet style apartment blocks, which doesn't align so much with South America, so I'm leaning towards China.

I can't spot a river in the photo posted, but it does have some resemblance to the (in)famous Lanzhou new city.

There's a river upper left.

Just above the very large set of tower blocks on the mid-left edge of the image.

I think it's a river there, at least. Not totally clear where it cuts through above that.

Tbh I'm pretty certain it is Lanzhou, but happy to find out otherwise, too.

ngl— i simply did some googling, re-read an article about Lanzhou that I first read in 2012, then did a quick google maps search and it was clear. couldn’t find the exact location tho.

Great one again! I'd guess this is on a medium sized lake - nothing to protect against tides. But where? I wanna say it feels like North America/Canada maybe?

I want to say Panama City purely because it looks like the same view as that John Darwin photo.

(Which it isn't now I look at it but I've typed the first bit already.)

Not as many churches as I would expect in a densely built area for a Western country. I see one steepled building but it's pretty small.

why has that building on the left for a massive tower on it? it's not a crane because they aren't building. aerial?

yeah i completely missed the horizon line having city buildings in the 2nd photo

ok, the difference between high and low tides there is only 8 ft (2,4 m), not much needed re: dams/dykes etc
