it's weird what works well and what doesn't. a few mashups I thought would be sure bets haven't panned out. even the simpler ones that don't involve celebrities doing goofery.

They can't be, really. It draws images from scratch based on what it's learned about the subjects. It isn't actually melding existing images together, or modifying them.
