i'll spare the newsmax video, but Texas AG Ken Paxton, asked in a newsmax "interview" what kinds of things should be done, said something about the buildings being built in a way so there is only one point of entry before switching to his thought that the teachers should have had guns

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 24 May 2022 23:56 (four years ago)

it's that anti-gun culture in TX, though, it's an uphill battle to get anything done on allowing more guns there

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 24 May 2022 23:56 (four years ago)

oops wrong thread my bad, twice in a row.

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 24 May 2022 23:57 (four years ago)

R.I.P., so good in Goodfellas and Something Wild, always a welcome presence who lent an air of danger to the proceedings.

in goodfella's he's like the calming presence really

mark s, Thursday, 26 May 2022 16:45 (four years ago)

anyway rip

mark s, Thursday, 26 May 2022 16:46 (four years ago)

I first saw him as shoeless joe, when it came out. One of the first movies I saw, I think, that I can remember. As I get older I really really appreciate his performance in that.

Of course, I saw goodfellas later on and realized what a force of nature he was. His sudden laughs, in that film - so good

― mark s,

I think I know what you mean, but can you explain?

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 26 May 2022 17:23 (four years ago)

Watched Something Wild for the first time in decades, and Liotta's just amazing in that one.

deep luminous trombone (Eazy), Thursday, 26 May 2022 17:24 (four years ago)

The classic slowburn.

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 26 May 2022 17:25 (four years ago)

oh just that there are at least two very much more dangerous airs being lent in his vicinity: he's playing a violent toxic nutball but by contrast in context he seems like the mild mannered one

mark s, Thursday, 26 May 2022 17:28 (four years ago)

man rip alan white. he’s a hero for making the songs on yessongs sound as good as they did

The Feelies’ "Loveless Love" plays as Ray Liotta dances into frame, menacing but magnetic with his piercing gaze & undeniably magnetic on-screen presence. A star-making entrance in his first major film role in Jonathan Demme's SOMETHING WILD ('86). RIP to a singular performer 💙 pic.twitter.com/xDWiiNcDaH

I never really think of him as a good-looking actor but he is smoking in that Something Wild clip

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 27 May 2022 11:55 (four years ago)

Ha, to this day I still mainly think of him as The Hot One From Something Wild.

Man, seeing Bo Hopkins' name in the opening credits almost always promised a good time.

Always found it weirdly endearing how he gets unceremoniously offed in each of his Peckinpah films.

Personal memory: Several years ago I vended at a big indoor holiday weekend car show where Hopkins and Candy Clark had a multi-day engagement with a joint autograph & merch booth. I passed them by several times over the weekend on food runs (they were set up across from a concession stand), and I've always regretted being too shy to go over and talk to them for a little while, because it seemed they were unengaged and hating life most of the time.

Bo Hopkins was the James Dean of the good ol' boys
