ok, i am tapped in and watching the hockey games, the blues / avalanche game. i understand that the blues got their asses kicked last night far beyond what a 3-2 (OT) score would suggest.

but what i am understanding even more intensely right now is that the game is at 8:30 (CT), and it's 8:42 and it still hasn't started. what the hell is going on over there in denver

i am VERY busy

they probably wanted to wait until the tampa-florida game finished, as both are on TNT

i watched the blues a lot when i was a kid, and i have fond memories of shanahan, hull, pronger. but i think my fandom was significantly dulled by our analog television and the especially poor reception we got on KPLR-11, the station the Blues games were on. it was just visible enough to be watchable, but fuzzy enough that it really was difficult, even as a kid with laser vision, to find the puck sometimes. a lot of people made fun of the puck tracker thing when it came out, but i remember thinking it was a positive development, haha

supposedly the panthers begged the nhl not to schedule them against the heat-celtics series -- to no avail, as espn can apparently do what it likes -- so at least for one game they'll get their own timeslot, even if it's a shitty sunday afternoon one
