Not that I know what I'm talking about, but that was my sense too: that the Leafs spend a lot of time looking for the perfect shot, whereas Tampa Bay fires away. I guess it works for them most of the year.

that was an insane performance. i thought for sure the Stars would win it with some flukey goal every time Oettenger kept them alive after an insane barrage.

as the resident pens fan, that was disappointing

on one hand, even before crosby got hurt, pittsburgh was down a top-pairing defenseman, a top-six winger, and forced to start a minor leaguer in goal. they really shouldn't have challenged the league's best goalie

on the other hand, the penguins dominated the rangers at 5-on-5, guentzel scored more goals than anyone else had in a series in 10 years, and they chased shesterkin twice

on the other other hand, they very thoroughly blew a 3-1 lead. and they blew two-goal leads in games 5-6 and a late one-goal lead in game 7. and they got utterly destroyed on special teams despite having earlier in the season had quite a good PK

anyway i am bummed because i think they're better than the rangers. probably not better than carolina or the florida teams, but a round would have been nice

at least we have been granted battles of alberta/florida! although i do think the oilers' all-navy-with-orange-lettering sweaters are fucking awful

After those 7-goal outbursts I thought the pens would close it out quickly. Alas.

I also dislike the modern oilers uniforms, too much orange. Much prefer the ones from the dynasty days of the ‘80//‘90s.

ok, i am tapped in and watching the hockey games, the blues / avalanche game. i understand that the blues got their asses kicked last night far beyond what a 3-2 (OT) score would suggest.

but what i am understanding even more intensely right now is that the game is at 8:30 (CT), and it's 8:42 and it still hasn't started. what the hell is going on over there in denver
