Howard's guy looks like he was born 41 years old

Deez NFTs (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 11 May 2022 22:26 (four years ago)

and I'm guessing none of them will realize Gus tried to off him, as the only one who knows about what Gus is up to is the one Salamanca who can't talk.

He can when the writers need him to, using the alphabet and the bell.

As I indicated above, I've literally given up on trying to sort out the BB/BCS (including Cinnabon prologues)/El Camino timeline. I keep rewatching one to get ready for the other, and by the time I get to the other I've forgotten what I watched to get ready.

clemenza, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 22:30 (four years ago)

Yeah I spent half this episode thinking "wait, how is Lalo across what the Germans did when Wenrer isnt dead yet?" because I was thinking that all happened in BB! Its because I watched all of BB only a couple of years ago, mid-BCS seasons. Its all mixed up in my head.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 11 May 2022 22:38 (four years ago)

Something sexy

I LOLed at this btw Neand
Stupid sexy Salamancas

Btw every time I see Tyrus I've been thinking it's him who (in BB) gets got with a boxcutter courtesy of Gus but I've completely misremembered! It's Victor!

Lalo finding out about the underground lab is the Rogue One of the Breaking Bad universe.

calstars, Thursday, 12 May 2022 11:03 (four years ago)

Did I miss something during that five minute scene where Gus is arranging the pen on his desk in his office at LPH, then arranges his shirt in the mirror on the wall, then goes out into the restaurant and adjusts the caps on the wall, takes an order from a customer, recommends the spicy fries, spaces out in a moonage daydream, is woken by fallen trays of chicken, then goes outside and stares into the distance?

calstars, Thursday, 12 May 2022 11:15 (four years ago)

Yeah he also inspects the deep fryer

Evan, Thursday, 12 May 2022 12:08 (four years ago)

Gus seems sure that a confrontation is going to take place at some point and he's setting up little traps

You know, assuming that Lalo is on to the fact there's a secret underground lab, maybe plotting a way to let Lalo see him going down there without making it obvious he knows he's been followed, shooting Lalo with his stashed gun

mh, Thursday, 12 May 2022 14:08 (four years ago)

I think after his little fugue state moment he decided it's no longer a matter of if, but when, and he's a guy who likes to plan (and absolutely hates ambiguity)

mh, Thursday, 12 May 2022 14:09 (four years ago)

Yeah he also inspects the deep fryer

Right!

calstars, Thursday, 12 May 2022 14:14 (four years ago)

he's gonna put Lalo in the deep fryer. from now on, Pollos Hermanos is made of people. sales takeeeeee off

Deez NFTs (Neanderthal), Thursday, 12 May 2022 14:36 (four years ago)

It's very heads-up poker. What range of hands does he have me on? What's his range? Gus has read Lalo's delay correctly, narrowed Lalo's range, is confident in his top pair (Mike/crew + basement gun) and will either value bet or check down to the river.

Lalo in Margarethe's house was tense, but on reflection, how long would the news take to reach Gus that Werner's widow has been merked? It would totally tip his hand.

My new Mad Theory is that Lalo ends the series settling down with Margarethe and going straight.

Lalo's abrupt switch from gentlemanly charm to sociopathic murder hound is one of my fav elements of this show.

kinder, Thursday, 12 May 2022 22:16 (four years ago)

Only two more episodes of this half season and I’m not expecting to be impressed tbh. It’s pretty, and I have nothing against slow moving Television, but this has felt more like filler than slow TV. Hoping to be proved wrong. Maybe the Nacho episode being so great set my expectations too high

hrep (H.P), Saturday, 14 May 2022 04:43 (four years ago)

One question about the prologue: was Kim's mom just perversely proud, or was she actually involved in what happened?

clemenza, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 13:30 (four years ago)

Missed that Giancarlo Esposito directed last night's episode. Long interview:

I get the impression she carried on like she did so that the store owner would be sympathetic and let her off the hook, and that she found it amusing. didn't think she was actually in on it.

Deez NFTs (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 14:12 (four years ago)

I could be wrong, but I read it that her mom wasn't in on it from the start, but did find it funny and took the opportunity to actually swipe the earrings and necklace when she had the chance

I hope Lalo meets a nasty end
Watching it week to week means I've forgotten what Casimiro is the judge of.

kinder, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 19:47 (four years ago)

Really enjoyed seeing John Ennis pop up as the judge stand-in.

a superficial sheeb of intelligence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 21:04 (four years ago)

I can't lie, I wasn't sure about whether I wanted Lalo to win that fight or not. He's an evil bastard but you just can't stay mad at him for long

paolo, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 21:18 (four years ago)

Casimiro is the judge of the Sandpiper case. I only know that because I just read a review of the episode

paolo, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 21:19 (four years ago)

something very terrible and/or weird is going to happen on sandpiper d-day and while we've got a lot of possibilities, I can't say with any certainty I know what it is

mh, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 21:55 (four years ago)

Had to google to make sure it wasn't Rhea Seehorn playing Kim's mother, too. Very well cast.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 18 May 2022 02:22 (four years ago)

Right? I did the same. It was the voice. Wonder if they fudged that a bit.

Kim, Wednesday, 18 May 2022 03:09 (four years ago)

Though the weirdest was figuring out that the actress playing Chuck’s wife was a Cusack sibling based solely on her voice. Did not know that she even existed, yet somehow it was obvious.

Kim, Wednesday, 18 May 2022 03:12 (four years ago)

That was Sandrine Holt as Howard's wife--liked her in House of Cards and Mr. Robot.

clemenza, Wednesday, 18 May 2022 04:09 (four years ago)

I too was convinced that was Rhea playing her own mom for a hot minute, the voice was pitch perfect.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 18 May 2022 04:10 (four years ago)

Holt also good in The Expanse as part of a six-member space pirate marriage.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 18 May 2022 08:34 (four years ago)

So bored by this show at this stage

Do not understand the boredom/pacing complaints AT ALL.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Thursday, 19 May 2022 03:02 (four years ago)

Yeah, there were a couple of episodes that were more about the building dread more than action set pieces, but I’m amazed that anyone could stick with this show through seasons 1 and 2 only to suddenly now complain that the show is too slow.

a superficial sheeb of intelligence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 19 May 2022 05:27 (four years ago)

You just know it's all going to kick off in the season finale after three slow episodes

paolo, Thursday, 19 May 2022 09:57 (four years ago)

xp I gotta say that I think the last few episodes have been slow even by BCS standards

paolo, Thursday, 19 May 2022 09:58 (four years ago)

I agree but I like it. I think they're still packing quite a lot in with the different plot strands.

kinder, Thursday, 19 May 2022 10:20 (four years ago)

I think it's been a great modern noir. My biggest complaint is (similar to BB) everyone acts like James Bond until the story suddenly requires them not to.

Also, it's pretty obvious Lalo is going to be killed and buried (or maybe buried alive) in the poured concrete floor of the meth lab they are building.

PBKR, Thursday, 19 May 2022 11:32 (four years ago)

i think a lot of us have had kind of enough of half hour shots of making a sandwich now that it's the final season... like, just make with the Heisenberg

mookie wilson shaggin balls (Neanderthal), Thursday, 19 May 2022 13:30 (four years ago)

tbh I complained about the pace of a few prior episodes but I enjoyed the last one. esp the way they keep us in the dark on what Jimmy/Kimmy have planned

mookie wilson shaggin balls (Neanderthal), Thursday, 19 May 2022 13:30 (four years ago)

Maffew otm. It being the last season is what ticks me with the slower speed. Pack it in, we don't have much time left!

Also, compared to the first seasons there is a sense of knowing (at least in spirit) where this is all heading. Feels more of a delaying of the inevitable as opposed to building up something entirely unprecedented a la season 1/2
