I think most people (including the left-wing ones) that get into a career in party politics tend to be absolute wankers, but 2015-19 was such a stark difference from the PLP of my entire adult life, that I became a bit invested in some of these people. The time for parties and parliaments that provide a single set of solutions for all is way gone. Sunak, for example, is completely unconcerned by the current crisis to govern or solve anything. And he only finds himself in the position of chancellor.
