panthers just cursed themselves by winning the president’s trophy

mookieproof, Friday, 29 April 2022 04:25 (two years ago) link

they get to raise a banner though

Expect #NHL teams to inquire about hiring Joel Quenneville as their Head Coach. Hear he wants back behind the bench and there is expected to be significant interest in hiring the future Hall of Famer. Q will need to meet with Commissioner Gary Bettman to be reinstated.

do not want

$5 says vegas hires him

mookieproof, Sunday, 1 May 2022 17:45 (two years ago) link

Flyers. They'll literally ditch a coach with cancer if they think it will help them win.

wild atmosphere/intensity at the games tonight

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 3 May 2022 04:20 (two years ago) link

are the leafs finally gonna do it

symsymsym, Tuesday, 3 May 2022 05:11 (two years ago) link

rags-pens going to a third OT, and Pittsburgh’s down to their third-string goalie. 138 combined shots on goal so far.

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 03:26 (two years ago) link

that whole leafs curse was the biggest crock of shit i've heard in a long time. they have to be the most deluded fan base in the league. i have nothing against toronto or the leafs, but i hope they don't get past the first round just for laughs

Punster McPunisher, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 04:02 (two years ago) link

i dunno about ‘curse’ but the leafs blowing a 4-1 lead in the third period of game seven vs the bruins in 2013 was some harrowing shit

mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 11:55 (two years ago) link

Losing to the Habs after being up 3-1 last year was also rough, a sign that they might be in their heads a bit too much

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 12:19 (two years ago) link

oh no, my home ice

mookieproof, Thursday, 5 May 2022 02:16 (two years ago) link

well we've got a bunch of series now <3

mookieproof, Thursday, 5 May 2022 04:48 (two years ago) link

god cale makar is so good

mookieproof, Friday, 6 May 2022 05:04 (two years ago) link

Yeah, his goal from the other night was tremendous.

Seems like a lot of third-string goalies in use already.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 6 May 2022 12:12 (two years ago) link

<3 secondary scoring <3

mookieproof, Sunday, 8 May 2022 01:46 (two years ago) link

I mean I hate the Pens on a genocidal level but I gotta admit as a vehicle for teaching Rangers fans about heartbreak and loss they're not half bad.

the puck always finds joe pavelsky

mookieproof, Sunday, 8 May 2022 04:11 (two years ago) link

welp, abbotsford won't be getting the calder cup. hockey season is pretty much over for me. i might catch a game here and there once we're closer to the NHL finals, though. this sucks because i was planning on going to abby for a game. curse bakersfield!

Punster McPunisher, Sunday, 8 May 2022 05:20 (two years ago) link

pretty sure bakersfield has already been cursed by being in bakersfield

mookieproof, Sunday, 8 May 2022 19:40 (two years ago) link

these playoffs are hardcore

mookieproof, Monday, 9 May 2022 01:06 (two years ago) link

marchand calling deangelo a racist was honestly great

symsymsym, Monday, 9 May 2022 02:34 (two years ago) link

can’t believe this is only the first round

Michael F Gill, Monday, 9 May 2022 02:56 (two years ago) link

marchand is the worst but i guess ~maybe~ props

mookieproof, Monday, 9 May 2022 04:03 (two years ago) link

worst hockey player you know makes a great point

symsymsym, Monday, 9 May 2022 04:09 (two years ago) link

Islanders fired Trotz? That seems dumb. I would take him on the Flyers any day though I don't think they are a Trotz away from anything.

we only steal from the greatest books (PBKR), Monday, 9 May 2022 14:41 (two years ago) link

Uh, that does not seem like a good idea. I thought Trotz (a likely hall of fame coach) did well to get a winning record out of a group that sustained a 12 game winless streak this season during a large Covid outbreak. Seemed like the players all really respected and liked him too.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 9 May 2022 16:26 (two years ago) link

lou is 79 and the minimal success he’s had in the salary-cap era has come from scrappy teams that overachieved. he did nothing at the trade deadline except extend old guys. maybe he should look in the mirror

mookieproof, Monday, 9 May 2022 19:56 (two years ago) link

good period imo

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 00:44 (two years ago) link

an embarrassment of riches

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 01:04 (two years ago) link

most important panthers goal in 25 years

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 01:39 (two years ago) link

seriously

need one more

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 01:42 (two years ago) link

there you go

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 02:00 (two years ago) link

huge

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 02:01 (two years ago) link

I was at the game. That goal was a huge bummer.

Happy retirement to Patrick Marleau

btw looooool at pierre mcguire lasting less than a year in ottawa

can't believe that guy was seriously bandied about as a legit executive; only melnyk would hire him

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 22:44 (two years ago) link

habs win the top pick in the draft

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 May 2022 22:53 (two years ago) link

nearly halfway through the game and the leafs have six shots on goal

mookieproof, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 00:54 (two years ago) link

hugest leafs period since . . . dougie gilmour, probably

mookieproof, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 02:20 (two years ago) link

great game

symsymsym, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 02:50 (two years ago) link

Happy retirement, Penguin great Patrick Marleau!

Then There Were Two. That leaves (by my count) Thornton and Chara as the last active NHL players who shared the ice with Gretzky.

andrew m., Wednesday, 11 May 2022 18:11 (two years ago) link

Wasnt mike smith coached by gretz *touches nose*

think we've all learned an important lesson tonight: never go up 2-0 or 3-0 on the road

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 May 2022 02:28 (two years ago) link

if the oilers lose this -- let alone in six -- that will really be something

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 May 2022 23:19 (two years ago) link

Fingers crossed for LA, but leafs game is something else so far

scampos sacra fames (outdoor_miner), Friday, 13 May 2022 01:28 (two years ago) link

I mean I wld love for any Canadian team to win the cup, but grew up in SoCal so can't not root for my team

scampos sacra fames (outdoor_miner), Friday, 13 May 2022 01:30 (two years ago) link

Here we go, lol.

daBobo (PBKR), Friday, 13 May 2022 01:50 (two years ago) link

One thing I’m not going to miss about this series is opposing teams w identical color schemes.
