Probably the best one yet, and that's saying something.

Wile E. Is President (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 3 May 2022 13:20 (four years ago)

Hmm, updating the MUBI app messed up some of my downloads. No real worries though.

Once Were Chemical Brothers (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 30 May 2022 14:31 (four years ago)

Said Spanish, but lots of people speaking Portuguese.

Once Were Chemical Brothers (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 30 May 2022 14:32 (four years ago)

Think the directors and star are Argentine and it is shot in Portugal or something.

Jimmy Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne Mary-Anne (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 17 June 2022 11:03 (three years ago)

The 2014 documentary Life Itself about Roger Ebert with the same title as his memoir that is about to leave but will still be available on Tubi is amazing.

We Have Never Been In Precise Modern Lovers Order (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 21 October 2022 01:55 (three years ago)

We Have Never Been In Precise Modern Lovers Order (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 21 October 2022 03:31 (three years ago)

“Cheeky cheeky!” she trills, nearly demolishing a roadside post (forksclovetofu), Friday, 21 October 2022 06:28 (three years ago)

i'm walking distance from Nitehawk Prospect, a half hour from BAM, and at Lincoln Center often so lots of options.

“Cheeky cheeky!” she trills, nearly demolishing a roadside post (forksclovetofu), Friday, 21 October 2022 06:29 (three years ago)

Was wondering. Think they did they same with Blonde or Marilyn or whatever it’s called.

We Have Never Been In Precise Modern Lovers Order (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 21 October 2022 11:55 (three years ago)

Hmm. Since they held it over I think I can just use MUBI GO to see it again.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 27 October 2022 23:44 (three years ago)

JRB, we should probably connect as mubi buddies

“Cheeky cheeky!” she trills, nearly demolishing a roadside post (forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 October 2022 05:39 (three years ago)

Sure. Can we do that? Maybe we actually passed by criss-cross this evening, we’ve never met in person.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 05:45 (three years ago)

By which I meant is that a thing within MUBI. In any case, I can contact you through social media.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 06:38 (three years ago)

yeah, hit me up and let's see something! i dunno about the next week's film, i'm dubious after the times review.

“Cheeky cheeky!” she trills, nearly demolishing a roadside post (forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 October 2022 12:58 (three years ago)

Okay, sure. I might go to see this one just for the foreign language angle.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 13:46 (three years ago)

Some of the cast was also in Tehran Taboo, which I still need to watch.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 13:59 (three years ago)

Similar sort of expat film about Iranian demimonde or whatever you want to call it.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 14:00 (three years ago)

they're holding over Decision to Leave, which is good because i didn't see it!

I saw this last night. It's an interesting neonoir, but I continue to wish that most 2+-hour movies be taken out of their directors' hands and be edited down to 90 minutes. And I remain unconvinced that Mubi US is worth the subscription.

Infanta Terrible (j.lu), Wednesday, 2 November 2022 16:16 (three years ago)

Think I mentioned on the Park Chan-Wook thread that I didn’t mind the length upon second viewing, which is saying something.

(We're Not) The Experimental Jet Set (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 2 November 2022 16:33 (three years ago)

This week’s offering, Holy Spider, is not for everyone. At first blush it may seem like a grisly true crime fictionalization masquerading as social commentary, but after pondering it for a few days maybe I liked it after all and maybe it did add to that small body of films that take place in Iran but are made outside of Iran by expats and can show things that cannot be filmed in country.

(We're Not) The Experimental Jet Set (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 2 November 2022 16:36 (three years ago)

Is that the one where the actress, upon winning at Cannes, delivered a 17-minute speech?

Eric H., Wednesday, 2 November 2022 18:40 (three years ago)

Dunno but I will agree that it's quite a good film that lingers in the memory; caught a screening at the local Alamo the other week.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 2 November 2022 19:33 (three years ago)

Can't find the acceptance speech, did find a press conference.
