Got this one almost out of nowhere after two greens.

found it in 161 with direct thesaurus help so a false victory. don't think i would have got it without completely changing paradigms.

though i don't know what i would have changed to as gift and now are both cold.

lol, 15. Almost entirely a fluke, most of those guesses were massively cold, then a low green gave it to me in two more guesses.

thanks to ledge's hints i got it in 203 guesses ... after having high greens with guesses #2 and #7 confront and meetlol ...

I solved Semantle #62 in 139 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 5.17. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #17. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 12.81.

Time was running out, but I'm glad I stuck with it (after having 994/1000 at guess 39).

#63 -- i am stuck

Me too - despite a host of greens, the highest of which is in the mid-980s. But that was many guesses ago, so I am no doubt barking up the wrong tree.

OK, finally got it in 81 guesses. Originally got stuck on synonyms of 'company' and had many high greens for enterprise, firm, business etc. to bolster me in my delusion.

i am now at guess 380 with three words in the mid-980s that all seem related, and many others slightly lower that are also related ...

Had “manufacturer” early so got stuck guessing a whole lot of business/company terms before finally guessing “seller”. Pretty quick from there

Found it in 157. Had seller at 126 so dragged that out a bit.

oof, my 68th and 79th guesses were "customer" (992/1000) and "seller" (993/1000), but I set the game aside after 100 guesses because I wasn't getting any closer to the answer. It occurred to me some time later that "vendor" would be the perfect guess, but by the time I got back to my computer I was convinced that I'd already tried that word. I ended up getting it in 113 guesses

Tough one, so many greens under 500, then I thought I knew what it was but struggled to find variations on junk mail.

Guess 5 was the only green I got -- "level" at 2/1000. As I flailed around for a better foothold, I hit it. I'll take a fluke!

#64 was maybe the fourth one I tried, first one I finished. got it in 55 guesses.

Made it to 984/1000 but it took forever to get there and I then stalled - so did the kind thing and put myself out of Semantle’s misery. Looking at the word I think I probably could have got there! But I know it is equally likely that I could have just prolonged the agony all day…

I gave up too (after >300 guesses) and was surprised to see that the word was one I thought I’d already tried :/

But I wasn’t really getting anywhere anyway - I couldn’t see which way the greens were leading me, just seemed like a big jumble of random words.

best ever score. one of my starter words is personal which took me to a middling green, it was a short hop from there.

I only had 2 guesses in the 900s. If I hadn’t have gotten this when I did, it might have taken me all day.

105 today, over that yesterday. Yesterday was once more a nightmare of synonyms where for some reason that particular one was nowhere near my brain. Today was easier, though I'd tried a variation of the word that was not green and it took me a bit to clock that the shorter version was more accurate to what else I had.

#64 - over 200 guesses on 2 devices. Got #997 on turn 11 then couldn't get any higher.

pimantle #40 is a silly one. recommended.

Got it in 89. 'Communication' (935/1000) was my way in, although it took me another 35 guesses before I got it.

am I misremembering or didn’t we have a different version of today’s word as a solution before?

I solved Semantle #65 in 68 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -1.94. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #2. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 37.89 (920/1000).

Found it in 118, took me 53 guesses to get green and I had to use the thesaurus to get over the line - i had 995/1000 and knew it would be something close to that but couldn't dredge it out of my early morning brain, and lost patience.

do you make considered guesses or just type whatever pops into your heads? I realize I just guess a lot of things without the goal of getting the answer in the shortest number of tries. Maybe that's why I'm at guess #381 and close but ... just not getting it

I have about 5-15 words I use right out of the gate to see if anything pops. Also I’ve noticed generic words like “give” or “carry” often work best to get pointed in the right direction.

Sitting on a top of 960 ('school') forever, had completely run out of educational things and was about to pull the plug - then somehow stumbled on 'basketball' and it was easy from there. Don't really associate educational institutions with sport so heavily, but I guess this is more a US thing.
