Lol, I tried oomph and glyph before getting nymph. Not many words end that way!

sorry, those are not -PH words.

Ahh, I got stuck in words where Y is the only vowel land. In that case, SYLPH.

― jaymc, Saturday, March 26, 2022 3:02 PM (two days ago) bookmarkflaglink
Oops, just realized I misread "Worldle" as "Wordle." Carry on.
― jaymc, Monday, 28 March 2022 16:50 (four years ago)
I got Sunday's in two, happened to set myself up with a good opening word (which gave me the first letter and also eliminated a bunch of vowels). Monday's however, is my least favorite type. I eked it out in 6, but that was still lucky because I was picking from among several possible words at that point. It nearly wrecked my streak!
― a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Monday, 28 March 2022 16:55 (four years ago)
Dang, I didn't get the wordle today for the first time (broke my streak of 81). It was one of those dumb ones where I had 5 of the letters early on, and was reduced to guessing one of the million words with a different starting letter.
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 28 March 2022 17:43 (four years ago)
yeah, i had to do a Wordle well breaker (enter a word that contains numerous possible letters to sniff out the last remaining letter that you need) for the first time ever to get today's
― Murgatroid, Monday, 28 March 2022 17:47 (four years ago)

Yep, that's what I did. The word I used was HIMBO.
― jaymc, Monday, 28 March 2022 18:15 (four years ago)
Haha. I was just very convinced it would be WOUND and not FOUND, since they don't tend to use many verbs that are just conjugations. Maybe I'm reading too much logic into the word selection.
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 28 March 2022 18:31 (four years ago)
There are two different answers today: mine was stove but some others got harry instead.
― mike t-diva, Wednesday, 30 March 2022 08:59 (four years ago)
I was wondering how people were taking so many guesses with just the 4th letter to get
― groovypanda, Wednesday, 30 March 2022 09:22 (four years ago)
Are some people still on powerlanguage instead of nyt?
― ledge, Wednesday, 30 March 2022 12:36 (four years ago)
Interesting. I can't get to powerlanguage, it redirects.

I decided to try Quordle and over the course of a week I've learned like 7 new words
― frogbs, Thursday, 31 March 2022 03:45 (four years ago)
Feel like as it gets higher than Quordle it gets easier but maybe more tedious.
― The Central Rockaliser (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 31 March 2022 03:54 (four years ago)

Sure, it's a word, but it's not a very good word to use as the correct answer for a word-guessing game. Although if they also removed it from the list of guessable words, that would be dumb.
― jaymc, Thursday, 31 March 2022 04:32 (four years ago)
I can't get to wordle using Chrome, only Safari
for me today it was the fourth letter - stole, stoke, stone, stove, store - those words with multiple one-letter substitutions are where I fail

Yes but hard mode
― groovypanda, Thursday, 31 March 2022 11:12 (four years ago)
hard mode is dumb mode in situations like this
― celebrating ten years of constant posting (breastcrawl), Thursday, 31 March 2022 11:28 (four years ago)
I like it as it ups the stakes. Sometimes means it's pure luck if you guess the remaining letter in time but not using it means you basically never fail.
― groovypanda, Thursday, 31 March 2022 15:06 (four years ago)
^this. I don' think I even have hard mode on but still usually play it that way most of the time.I do use the well-breaker idea for the 4 and 8 word versions though.
― The Central Rockaliser (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 31 March 2022 15:12 (four years ago)
I don't have hard mode turned on but that's just how I've always played it anyway. (I'm not a purist or anything, I just like trying to guess the actual word.)
― a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 31 March 2022 15:14 (four years ago)
Right. Plus I don't really like the pressure of having to always get it every day. It's generally easy enough as it is and I don't want to stress about it if I can help it.
― The Central Rockaliser (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 31 March 2022 15:21 (four years ago)
I don't stress about it but I will still be sad when my streak ends.

― Came Here to Roll the Microscope (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 5 April 2022 18:41 (four years ago)
quordle and octordle are fun puzzles. sedecordle (16 words) is a bit less fun since it doesn't fit easily on my screen so i lose track of which letters are ruled out or in. i start with a 3 word well-breaker that covers 15 letters including all vowels. from there i can solve the puzzles usually with 1 or 2 spaces left. nice low stakes mental break during the day.
