my dad will never shut up about the idea of ordering a steak 'black and blue', but I'm not sure if that would work so well with a burger.

Doghouse O RLY (G00blar), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

god i can't put up with shake shack's mythos is the problem -- i rarely am in that part of town and the line is always hueg. i'd love to eat their burgers but not with those ppl in my jock.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)

i still like the burgers at molly's. they are not the fashionable fast food-y kind, though.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)

yah u have to go to shake shack on off hours

330 on a weekday is good

dont you have some law stuff to do gabbneb

nope! shd go to gym tho.

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

also: joe's bestburger in queens (flushing) on main st. pretty good in-n-out knockoff, and they make handcut fries which are a+.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

i have heard there are good burgers at melt on bergen st (served like 1/2 price at the bar??) but i have only eaten brunch there.

?? really ??

didn't like the brunch there, maybe I'll try the burger

hey schef you been to alchemy brunch, that's my go-to over there. bloody mary / eggs + chorizo / jalapeno cheese grits

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:11 (seventeen years ago)

Sobaya is kinda blah compared to Honmura An.

how do you killfile in the new code?

also they have like 10 diff flavors of joe's brand soda, and you always get free cookies or something with your meal.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:11 (seventeen years ago)

yah i was eyeing joes bestburger on sunday

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

last time I ate at shake shack mary-louise parker was there

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

joe's is the chain that wasn't - they have everything set up like there are a million of them around the globe, but that's the only one.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

also someone mentioned pequena in ft. greene upthread, their brunch is great + cheap. huevos rancheros etc.

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

according to Eater, Honmura An reopened .... in tokyo

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:14 (seventeen years ago)

i haven't been to alchemy, maybe i'll try this weekend! we've done that new orleans place on atlantic 2x (??? stan's? i forget the name). cafe du monde = winner. service is slooooooow and the prices are a touch higher than they should be.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:14 (seventeen years ago)

that was me dmr! looove them

alchemy is good but overpriced for what it is, me thinks

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

alchemy dinner is overpriced for sure. brunch ain't too bad imo.

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

oh re: melt's brunch, it seems really super hit or miss.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:23 (seventeen years ago)

anyone been to the spotted pig i might go for bday tmrw night

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

if available, get devils on horseback

mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

yeah I went once, it's real good but probably not worth the massively long wait (or maybe it's not as hot as it used to be? I haven't seen any gossip-page shit about Bill Clinton running into Jay-Z there in a while). the pork belly was crazy.

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

is there any reason spotted pig gets a michelin star other than that it's a) small and b) trendy?

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

probably not

I heard Babbo's star got taken away? wtf

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

don't get me wrong spotted pig was v. good but if babbo doesn't have a star they sure shouldn't have one

otoh who gives a fuck what the snobby frenchies think

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

according to google new p&t locale is 0.4 mi from my house! :D

Kramkoob (Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

i'd rather try to force my way into a bar seat at babbo than one at the spotted pig, but they're both kind of clusterfucky.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)

did you check out the menu at the tavern room at gt, max? i really do think that could be a good option. even if there is a wait, it's a lot more civilized than the bar crush at some places.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)

pequena is kinda blah imo - bonita does the same kinda thing much better

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

i just found this on p'n't's website:

http://www.piesnthighs.com/images/pig.gif

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:42 (seventeen years ago)

i emailed my friend who is friends w/the pies n thighs girls and she said: probably not till next year they got all messed up witht ehir permits...wait it out

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)

it will never open again

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

bonita does the same kinda thing much better

the one in w'burg u mean? or is there another one

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

they should spend less time being stoned or whatever they are doing and more time opening a restaurant that i would like to eat at. yeah!

maybe i will just open my own pies 'n' thighs to spite them.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

theres a bonita in ft green - dekalb @ vanderbilt

xp

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

oh cool. I shld go there

dmr, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

eater said they'd applied for an expedited permit hearing in december, but i guess that in practical terms it would mean a 2009 opening. sigh.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

well, ppl can come over to my house for biscuits (made with real lard flakes) in the meantime.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:50 (seventeen years ago)

yea i haven't been to bonita yet. seems cute on the outside

still go to ICI a lot, which is right across the street. and Lulu is pretty good, also right there -- can be hit or miss.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:50 (seventeen years ago)

i am leaning towards this idea of opening my own pies 'n' thighs even more >:[

xpost i'll bring pulled pork and greens

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

yah i dont know if pies n thighs is stoned or what but judging from the couple conversations ive had w/one of the owners they def were just all YAY LETS OPEN A FUN RESTAURANT which totally awesome attitude imo but they no doubt had a steep learning curve once the city started fucking w/them and they had to move etc

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)

it's a deal. we can serve up bootleg nu-americana.

xpost

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

i will bring ribbbbs

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

xpost yeah that is problem with it, opening up a restaurant is actually not fun at all, and tho i admire their attitudes it just seems like more than they bargained for unfortunately.

ps gabbneb is not invited to our bootleg nu-americana festival.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

gebbneb can come but he has to agree w/everything we say and we will purposely say many wrong things

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

it would be kind of fun to do a p&t memorial potluck.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)
