The 1-second clip immediately triggered the artist for me, but then I played it again and it sounded less familiar, and I wondered why I'd had that initial thought. It took a couple of skips before I realized I'd been right all along.

seems to me that the octordle is actually easier than the quordle because of the extra guesses.

Mardi Gras Mambo Sun (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 11 March 2022 00:07 (four years ago)

i've found that pretty much any quordle is solvable if you just burn your first 3 guesses on 15 common letters. i imagine octordle is even easier if you do that. but that's no fun.

, Friday, 11 March 2022 03:06 (four years ago)

I think these kind of games are more fun if you're not being too strategic about it. Just enter whatever 5 letter word pops into your mind and go from there. I was listening to the new Ghost album so started with 'devil'.

silverfish, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:12 (four years ago)

Yeah I saw some people trying to work out the best first guess and to me that takes the fun out of it

Finally missed one today, got the last 4 letters in 3 but guessed wrong on the first three times

frogbs, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:23 (four years ago)

same tbh

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:23 (four years ago)

First guess, I just wing it too--maybe try to get an 'e' or 'a' in there.

clemenza, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:44 (four years ago)

same, had the last 4 letters on guess 3, but picked the wrong choice every damn time.

a superficial sheeb of intelligence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 11 March 2022 16:47 (four years ago)

I immediately went into letter elimination mode and still had to guess in order to get it in 6

castanuts (DJP), Friday, 11 March 2022 16:59 (four years ago)

if your goal is to get some 2's then you're better off using different and arbitrary first guesses every day rather than sticking to one optimal one, a stopped clock is only right twice a day whereas a clock thats completely freaking out could be right more often. this is more fun than using something like RAISE to optimize getting it in 3 every time

Heardle is not exactly trying to make things difficult, its database seems to consist of 21st century smash hits only, but I’m still pleased I got my first one-go answer today.

celebrating ten years of constant posting (breastcrawl), Friday, 11 March 2022 17:14 (four years ago)

Heardle annoyed me when I hit a few songs I only knew from the radio and they played the intro that I hadn't ever heard before (like the Ariana Grande one from several days ago).

I am planning a new game that just makes you guess Roger McGuinn songs

Byrdle

jenny from the blockchain (Ye Mad Puffin), Saturday, 12 March 2022 05:45 (four years ago)

A game where you have to identify the species of faeces - Turdle

A game where you have go guess how many days the milk is past its use-by date - Curdle

No doubt these all actually exist

lemmy incaution (emsworth), Saturday, 12 March 2022 06:01 (four years ago)

I am reliably informed there is one just for hockey player names and it is called Gordle

jenny from the blockchain (Ye Mad Puffin), Saturday, 12 March 2022 06:10 (four years ago)

Would definitely play a game where you have to jump over a number of obstacles in order to discover the name of an American film producer whose illustrious Hollywood career was responsible for The Terminator, Aliens and Dante’s Peak among others

Haha I guessed right first try today! (For one of the quordle words, that is, but still) feeling like my luck is finally in

wins, Sunday, 13 March 2022 07:11 (four years ago)

great synergy between Heardle and Wordle today

was playing the solution to Heardle and feeling inspired, I entered “shoes” in Wordle. that wasn’t it, but I did get it in two

celebrating ten years of constant posting (breastcrawl), Tuesday, 22 March 2022 10:57 (four years ago)

Heardle's list of possible guesses continues to irritate me. They have zero Beyonce songs (yet several Destiny's Child songs?), zero Maroon 5 songs, zero Weezer songs... there is like no rhyme or reason as to what's in there.

I missed this at the time but there is a spinoff called Byrdle already, it is wordle for choral geeks and I love it.

emil.y, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 20:58 (four years ago)

There's definitely some Beyonce songs as Halo was the answer the other day xps

groovypanda, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 21:20 (four years ago)

Huh, I searched for Beyonce and zero songs came up

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 22 March 2022 21:34 (four years ago)

Might have been the only one as looks like songs are removed from the song list once they've been the song of the day (yesterday's song no longer appears in the search for example)

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 24 March 2022 20:49 (four years ago)

It's funny how Worldle will jump from painfully obvious to virtually impossible. Like when it was brazil recently, I was like "come the fuck on." But then another recent one was BOUVET ISLAND, which I had never even heard of and basically just looks like a little, smooth, round bump.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Thursday, 24 March 2022 20:53 (four years ago)

today's was much more in the painfully obvious category

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Thursday, 24 March 2022 20:53 (four years ago)

I'm usually not so good at this kind of stuff but somehow for a movie I saw once in the theatre years ago:

Second one does kind of give it away.

ledge, Thursday, 24 March 2022 21:12 (four years ago)

Today's Framed was obvious from the first and the previous of days obvious from the second. I've only been doing it this week.

Long enough attention span for a Stephen Bissette blu-ray extra (aldo), Friday, 25 March 2022 12:16 (four years ago)

The Worldle game was much too difficult for me.

the pinefox, Friday, 25 March 2022 12:24 (four years ago)

Today's framed took me two tries since I never saw the movie. They should make something like this that checks your letterboxd and only quizzes you for movies you've already seen.

silverfish, Friday, 25 March 2022 13:15 (four years ago)

Worldle is the one of these I've found the most fun. Any game that ends up making me spend 15 minutes reading the wikipedia article on Svalbard is good.

I love that about Worldle too - all these tiny island groups and making me realize I generally know where countries are by their name and not their outlines! Like, who knew Guernsey was its own actual thing - I really had no idea except it had cows and sweaters, so I thought it was some chunk of the UK.

Jaq, Friday, 25 March 2022 19:18 (four years ago)

I only play Wordle, Tradle, and Poeltl

Jeff, Friday, 25 March 2022 19:52 (four years ago)

lol I got Poeltl in 1.

Ace of Base Are Belong To Us (Leee), Friday, 25 March 2022 20:00 (four years ago)

oh, Tradle looks like a fun one!

celebrating ten years of constant posting (breastcrawl), Friday, 25 March 2022 20:20 (four years ago)

The thing about Wordle is it appears to be the Rich Man's Word game.

There are much tougher word games that are so conspicuously competitive but all of these assholes posting to social media don't want to be humiliated by people who do something much more difficult.

Loud Tsu (I M Losted), Friday, 25 March 2022 22:03 (four years ago)

Difficulty is just one aspect of a game, young padawan

Worldle in 1 today.

Ace of Base Are Belong To Us (Leee), Saturday, 26 March 2022 16:14 (four years ago)

Worldle has taught me that I don't know anything about geography and also there are a lot of islands.

But my boyfriend couldn't get Mexico the other day, that was nice. He usually beats me.

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Saturday, 26 March 2022 16:30 (four years ago)

Watching "lingo" this week, one young couple were amazing, usually I can guess the word just before they do, but not once was I ahead of them.

Mark G, Saturday, 26 March 2022 18:21 (four years ago)

Worldle in 1 today.

― Ace of Base Are Belong To Us (Leee), Saturday, March 26, 2022 11:14 AM (three hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

Wow. I felt lucky to get it in 3, since there's no way I would've made it my first guess.

jaymc, Saturday, 26 March 2022 20:02 (four years ago)

When I was studying geography for LL, I made a point of the remembering its shape and arrangement, but even then, I wasn't sure about it today.
