For me the “James Dean” reveal ending of one of the earlier Oscar Specials was the most shocking mainly because I wasn’t sure if the guy was aware what was going on, or if he actually believed he was James Dean.

that was the third one! which is probably my favorite after 5 and 7. mark as the three stooges is the peak of comedy

as far as I could gather the James Dean guy was the sort of person who appeared on Tim & Eric, they're acting but maybe not 100% aware of what the show is or what kind of humor they're going for. from what I've heard the bit in the Oscar Special where Tim is really yelling at him wound up rattling him and he had to be calmed down after the shoot. I guess the panic in his eyes was real. also seems he was declining mentally pretty quickly which is why he had to be replaced in Decker.

I would love more Rock House, I think it's super cool when this show gets way outside of its own universe. that's what makes the trial so great. also Ax and Manuel are just naturally funny in this context. its so on the nose it almost could've aired as-is on MTV 10 years ago

Xposed is also really funny but the humor is very similar to Decker. Rock House is just something else entirely

yeah I think at some point Tim realized that Manuel needs more screentime

Xposed is really funny too. I wonder if LaRue gets to even see the scripts before filming.

my favorite part about Xposed is that much of it appears to be plagiarized word-for-word from wikipedia and conspiracy theory sites

terri parks was also phenomenal in the penultimate episode

yeah I was pretty stunned by that because afaik she isnt really in anything else? in terms of pure acting talent she's the second best actor on the show...first of course being Joe Estevez (sorry, the numbers don't lie)

valentine's special is insanely uncomfortable and hostile from scene to scene, as it should be

I don't understand. Single ticket cost $12 but "$10 for monthly subscribers". Oh OK, where's the monthly package? Only thing available is a $55 annual membership package that says the oscar special is free to stream and replay (so explicitly not $10). Is the monthly package just not an option?
