There are hundreds of really good ones too.

Also, why ask me if I'm a ricer?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 27 January 2005 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone have the ipod plug-in for winamp working?

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 27 January 2005 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That's completely illogical.

Well, the thing is, the skinning is considered a big fun feature, rather than a one-time choice. Like, I think there are people who sit around skinning thier winamp player all day, and it's just stupid, but it's one of the big features of winamp, dontcha know. The skin it somes with basically forces you to modify it, it's so damn ugly. So you go to the website and are immediately overwhelmed by thousands and thousands of choices, none of which look all that great...

my powerpuff girls skin was completely awesome

ITunes uses my scrotal hair for dental floss. WinAmp 5 (classic skin) is about a gabillion factors of ten better as an mp3 *player*, for a number of reasons (MAD decoder, anyone?). Still, I use Anapod for my Ipodding needs, rather than the WinAmp Ipod plugin. I agree that the WinAmp disk library is not user-friendly, but it's lightyears better than ITunes for netradio and video, IMHO.

I used the WinAmp Ipod plugin for a while, but I found it to be a bit sluggish and not so great for ID3 tag editing. EphPod's an improvement, seeing as how it's free and all, but if you're looking for the real deal for Windoze AnaPod is the way.

J (Jay), Thursday, 27 January 2005 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Literally no one does that besides people who make skins, Kenan.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 27 January 2005 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

well, and teenagers. but yeah, i'm probably overstating the problem.

I think the classic skin is fine/functional. I've tried better looking ones, but I keep reverting to the old one.

Jon, "ricer?"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, there must be a way to put that idea without the semi-ethnic slur.

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

or hell, just straight-out ethnic slur. It's like "beaner," innit?

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I have had several skins I thought were pretty! Like, if you browse by user rating, they are mostly non-ugly. It is not that hard.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Drivers of rice burners are known as "ricers" or "rice boys". These terms are often used as a pejorative or ethnic slur.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you really think I meant it that way?

Reviewer: Sir Potomus (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews (ex machina), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

No, that would've been pretty out of the blue. It was just funny that your "I wasn't using an ethnic slur!" link was "hello, I am an ethnic slur."

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I assumed that it wouldn't say that it was a slur and jsut get at the real meaning behind the word.

Jon, "DUMB FUCK?"

Also, so you're asking me if I am a car?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a fair question, Spencer, you're pretty sleek.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 28 January 2005 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer, that car almost made me hork up a lung.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 January 2005 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Back to point: Winamp has got one killer feature that I've yet to find/make happen in iTunes: it can kill the silence between mp3s. I've tried using the iTunes crossfader set to 0 seconds to achieve this but it doesn't work...

i mean if you really like the look of iTunes...

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 30 January 2005 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i like Winamp - the streaming audio/video channel selection could be better tho, and the library doesn't recognise all mp3s for some reason. who gives a shit about how bad 95% of the skins are? BITTER LINUX NERDS THAT'S WHO

Stevem On X (blueski), Sunday, 30 January 2005 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

here is a gem from livejournal:

as i'm grading assignments for [REDACTED] i come across a pile of late assignments from a boy who's never submitted anything before last week. all the assignments are perfect and commented like whoa and i note on his gradesheets 'beautiful comments!' goldstar smileyface A+

then i notice one of his class headers has another student's name and section number and is dated 2 weeks before any of the other classes are dated. and in fact, all of the late assignments this boy magically submitted now are styled identically to the class submitted with the erroneous header info.

instead of sending him a response of a couple of fat 0s and an F in the course as dictated by the [REDACTED] academic honesty policy, i decide to search thefacebook so i could have a snarl or two at the cheater and accomplice. expecting ricers or frat pledges that list 'beer, chicks' as their interests, i am surprised to find perfectly normal, adequately acceptable, friendly, intelligent looking, non-gross, indie rockers. sigh. the boy gets his 10% off, which leaves him with an 88. and i will probably tell the incredibly friendly push-over professor (who brings pizza and fresh fruit into the i.t. programming labs for her class) that she might want to check this out. maybe.

:(

wake up jon, this is not real.

there's no such thing as a perfectly normal, adequately acceptable, friendly, intelligent looking, non-gross, indie rocker.

no shit, MY EX GIRLFRIEND POSTED THAT.

I think she probably used to lurk on Sinister! When we were dating, she had "his" and "hers" Belle and Sebastian mugs.
