Sure! Hope you guys don’t mind me tracking. It is actually kind of a fun feature, to see how people are doing.

No prob whatsoever here.

Anyone go through periods where they feel less interested in the league? Any tips on getting through them?

I don’t care that much about regular season, kind of live for the off season. I did just subscribe to Yu Oughta Know, maybe that will help with something.

People who are way into it seem to be constantly doing other trivia events, for one thing.

Heh I'm pretty much the exact opposite.

Happy with most of the Worldwide History thing, though, apart from the Championship which turned out a bit of a calculated-risk disaster. (I figured I'd do some aggressive moneying, and dropped two out of five.)

I know Greg and at least one other person on this thread are doing various incarnations of OQL now - weird I'm probably going to come up against you guys (might have done so already!) without knowing it

One thing I do like about regular season is not having to worry about the midday deadlines.

I'm with anatol in greatly preferring the regular season. During the regular season, I usually look at the questions in the morning and think about them throughout the day, and check in on the message board to see what people are saying about the previous day's questions. I like the statistical component, how I can measure my performance against previous seasons and how each question contributes to my category stats. I like the fact that one person writes all the questions, and that everyone in LL is answering them.

In the off-season, even when I've signed up for mini-leagues, I sometimes have to remind myself to play, and I don't feel as invested. And some 1DSes have escaped my attention because I'm generally sort of checked out of LL. (I only did two this time around.) Which is not to say that I haven't enjoyed a fair number of MLs and 1Dses, but they just feel sort of marginal.

Yeah I've been enjoying OQL and the various other Zoom trivia games a lot more than LL recently. I did play all 4 ML's this offseason but didn't particularly like any of them except for the Italy one. I actually considered dropping LL entirely in favor of OQL and family, except that I do have a 1DS coming up this offseason, then the OQL Championship this summer so I guess I'll stick around at least through that.

I'm very surprised that Thorsten, who is so careful about avoiding controversy that he once issued a formal leaguewide apology for including a question about Pewdiepie, would have asked a question about Afrika Bambaataa (which I missed in probably my stupidest LL mistake ever - answering too early in the morning and put "Planet Funk" without thinking)

Last i checked i was three TCA behind the #1 in our rundle. But I'm #23. It's a bad season for me.

Familiar story – I'm only four TCA behind our #1 (80 vs 84), and am in 24th place out of 26.

The explanation is pretty obvious: unlucky opponent schedule. I'm in a clear lead in CAA (91; the next three have 89), while the leader is at the very bottom of the CAA list (67, next has 74!).

for some reason people are playing terrible defense against me this season, so i have 15 three-pointers in 19 matches. which goes a long way

Funny that the least motivated I've ever been has been the season that I'm doing the best in, having (temporarily) knocked out first place with a 9(6) to climb into second and being on pace to nearly match my best TCA. I've also been much luckier than I've been in seasons past.

I didn't know that about Bambaataa, on top of which I got it wrong (I always confuse the song with "The Message"); on a similar tip, I was debating between Momaday (whose autobiography I'd read) and Alexie and had known that the latter had gotten caught up in Me Too, but being so much better known figured that he had to be the right answer, and maybe Thorsten didn't know about the allegations.

Second place right now but judging purely on the TCA of my remaining opponents I have the toughest schedule.

Mired in exciting relegation battle: am at #23, remaining opponents are #25, #26, #13. Will not be at all disheartened if I go down, I'm happy as long as I keep the level of A/B yo-yo.

I'm in first place today, but with second and third only a point behind me, and the fact that I'm facing someone who has NINE categories above 80% and whose worst category is 57% (srsly what are you doing in C???), I'm more worried about staying in the promotion zone than keeping the top spot.

Very weird season for me. I won 8 of my first 11 matches, landing me briefly in second place, and then proceeded to lose 9 of the next 10, and so now back to my usual middle-of-the-pack.

As expected, I got steamrolled again by my LL bully, dropping me to 3rd. With 4th and 5th both playing relegation zone opponents and me up against 6th (with a TCA just 4 behind me), I have an extremely narrow path to promotion.

Well I actually moved up a rank! I'm expecting some regression to the mean next season and to get murdered again in B.

At this point, I am just treading water at C level.

im having by far my best 1D season ever. a 95th, 90th, and 87th, and another good showing today... not bad for a career C/D rundler

Regretting a bit not doing Advice ML. Also just peeked at the handful of testers signed up so far for my 1DS, very interesting so far.

it was fun to have a Fugazi one-day. i think i did good, but not great (i missed a couple).

I did a null submission or ghost submission for Fugazi. Can’t remember if we discussed here how to do that.
