I think it was obliquely referenced in Holden's "we still don't know what happened to that missing protomolecule sample" and maybe the blue glimmering ship we saw? and the guy cutting Marco off?
all sorta handled by Naomi's "can we just worry about this later" (when there is a sequel?)

xpost
Short of an Expanse continuation, I'd like some kind of comedy series starring the actors who played Amos and Bobbie with Avasarala as a wacky neighbor.

RIP the many science fiction franchises that meet their end when their leads die during the assault on Medina Station. pic.twitter.com/jYfOEMbP7S— Chris Barrus (@quartzcity) January 15, 2022

The zombie kids are on Laconia, the planet colonized by the Mars navy defectors led by Duarte. The blue glowing ship thing was briefly mentioned as a dormant orbital platform left there by a prior civilization. That prior civilization had some protomolecule stuff going on, and Duarte was given the sample in exchange for a lot of armaments and ships he traded to Marco. I’m fine with having set that stuff up, not because it leaves the door open for more tv episodes, but due to the fact it leaves the world open. Holden and company aren’t creating some utopia, just addressing the challenges that continually pop up given the world the show’s created. Whether we see those stories as not, the universe is going to keep changing.
― mh, Saturday, 15 January 2022 20:58 (four years ago)
ok sure but why was it so boring
― mark s, Saturday, 15 January 2022 21:00 (four years ago)
it's worse than the blue wizards (also ptoro-molecule-related iirc)
― mark s, Saturday, 15 January 2022 21:01 (four years ago)
fairit’s the protomolecule curse, the more reasonable people use it to advance their material science a little and make new armor for ships and some gradual advances, the opportunistic and narcissistic will try to grab the golden ring and boast about how they’re going to fight gods (whoever nuked the prior protomolecule civilization)
― mh, Saturday, 15 January 2022 21:08 (four years ago)
Because it was centered around annoying children (redundant, I know).

got to agree with both of you here, zombie kids was tedious
― calzino, Saturday, 15 January 2022 22:46 (four years ago)
i was carefully *not* reading the thread bcz i was coming to lots of it way late and i see everyone else already thought this many times
tbh i need to go back and rewatch the last 3 series with my legendary "metaphysics of scale" thesis in mind once more
― mark s, Saturday, 15 January 2022 23:18 (four years ago)
the entire zombie kids arc would have been redeemed if zombie bro entered the house and started zapping them all with his eyes

― bad milk blood robot (sleeve), Saturday, 15 January 2022 23:41 (four years ago)
I didn't mind the zombie kid thing because I did see it as an opportunity for the series to perhaps be spun off in another direction, which would be nice. Not many shows have captivated my attention the way this one has over the past few months.

people who have read the books: is there enough material left for another season/series/final movie?
― bad milk blood robot (sleeve), Saturday, 15 January 2022 23:51 (four years ago)
There's enough left for three seasons.

Extremely much so.
Technically, the last couple of pages of the last book could be turned into a 10-season spin-off with a central character that would make most people round here extremely happy.
― Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Sunday, 16 January 2022 00:31 (four years ago)
it was a pretty exciting/moving finale, lots of nice moments w everyone i’m kinda glad now that it wasn’t a bloodbath - i thought it was just going to be kamikaze full out w bobby & amos & was like oh no wait wait i dont want everyone to die noooo - i was v relieved!!! loved all those easter eggs in the assault team names, we had fun figuring some of them out (missed a lot tho!)

my friend told me that in the post-credits there wasn't a 'scene' (obviously), but a "hint" of something. anybody know what he's talking about? I'm afraid to ask him and seem like dummy.

Shockingly satisfying finale given the shortened season and wasting 15% of each episode on the zombification dogs.

Neanderthal, at the very end of the credits sequence with the ring gate image, you see it start to fleck red and then a big fucking Laconian protomolecule-tech ship starts to emerge.
― Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Sunday, 16 January 2022 11:17 (four years ago)
if they're going with zombies as plot then based on all TV shows i've ever watched abt zombies there's enough for an infinite number of new series which i will not be watching
― mark s, Sunday, 16 January 2022 11:33 (four years ago)
Got into this show very late and pretty much binged all six seasons in the past couple of months. Very sad it’s done - very few series have lasted this long and still remained enjoyable to watch.
Liked the callback to the Cant (the Roci is travelling with an ice hauler carrying the assault team) and the quiet moments among the team.
It is a little unsatisfying though that after opening up all those portals, we only got to see two new planets, both of which were frankly pretty boring. If there are spinoffs, I hope they’ll get a chance to do those better. and of course, would love it if Drummer got her own show.
― Roz, Sunday, 16 January 2022 11:50 (four years ago)
There's a final trilogy of books so plenty of material left for a future season(s) xpsFor those who've only watched the show, you could just read those final three books if you wanted to see how the story finishes (and how zombie dogs fit in) as the show has been pretty faithful to the books, especially in terms of main plot (one character death aside).

Not only enough material for more seasons, but books 7 and 8 stand up with the best of the books imo. If any show-only fans are interested, I think it's quite easy to just start reading from book 7 - the show has revealed everything you need to know
― Vinnie, Sunday, 16 January 2022 16:18 (four years ago)
Oops I see groovypanda made that point already
Mark S, they're not zombies, if that's putting you off the books. Those resurrected by the "dogs" retain their memories and rationality and sentience and have continuity of personality and are not infectious or violent (any more than they used to be); they DO have altered physiology and perceptions.
― Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Monday, 17 January 2022 06:48 (four years ago)
yeah dont worry JM i was just making a dumb and hostile joek abt a very little going a very long way in zombie-based dramas
which are bad not good btw

This guy is not how I imagined the character in my head AT ALL, but I did laugh at this.

Hi I'm late to the party but I just started this and oh my god it's good. I think I gave the first episode a go a short while back but was confused about whether people were speaking Belter Creole or just mumbling. But by the power of subtitles, voila, I am a convert - and only two episodes in. Good grief, that second episode was STRESSFUL!
